Isn't dispatching via unrecorded cell phone a FAR violation? Why does it take hours and hours to get through to crew accomodations to then wait even longer to not be assigned a hotel? Why haven't we invested in better technology or hired more schedulers for IROPS? Instead, flight ops has been blowing money on failed uniforms and obsessing over APU usage and hat wearing, tracking commutes, and harassing people for sick calls.

The amount of unnecessary money lost during these IROPS dwarfs any possible savings from not running APUs and roasting our passengers.
They never learn either. Every IROP recovery goes just as poorly as the last, with the same mistakes being made.

This is also the consequence of having only one mega hub.

Perhaps when they upgrade the systems, they’ll lose the data that placed me on the commute tracker…

I would guess the net cost of over-staffing 10 months to seamlessly handle 2 hot months is greater than the cost of 12 months running "lean" with the occasional meltdown. They've ran the cost/benefit numbers and this is how they prefer to do things, for years if not decades.

We also have tools like VAS, silver slips, or premium PBS rotations to protect reserve manning well in advance, without tying up phone lines while playing catch-up with coverage, but the company has chosen not to pay for these.

717 in ATL appears back on track. Still a smattering of stuff popping up that reports later this evening and tomorrow but everything has been covered with G's or reserves. No IA's on the A or B side.

we are a union shop. Union membership is required as a condition of our employment. I may be mistaken, I believe it’s in the PWA and the FOM. He gets 8’d and he’s unemployed. Paying back several years of ill gotten gains, may be punishment enough & discourage others as well.

and why not public shaming? I haven’t looked him up yet… publish his name, cell & email address here.

the above doesn’t work & he does it again…. Yes… 8’d & gone.
Paying dues is required, but membership is not. PWA 27 A.

What you're looking for is in section 27 of the PWA. You have to read down thru it but the relevant parts start at 27.A.2.

Nope. Not our dog, not our problem to solve. There are plenty of tools we've given them they can use to help but they refuse to use them. You can't control mother nature, but you can control reliability of your phone lines and computer systems. This is at least the third time this year the phones to OCC have gone kaput (2 were not even related to IROP - they just "happened"). It's not our job to fix their problems. Let it ride, pick up a greenie or IA and make some hay.

agree, burn him. I would absolutely vote to boot him no problem. He’s stealing plain and simple. The education and warning phase already ensued. Time for article 8

We were short staffed in 2017-2018 but irops took only one day to resolve.

It’s not only the “2 months a year”, it’s also the winter season. Also those 2 months of the year are our most profitable.

This person obviously ignored that "warning" so for me it seems this needs to go right to an Article 8.

This is why we can't have nice things. These people need to be made an example of.
I flew with a 4th floor type awhile back who couldn’t understand why pilots don’t willingly accept reroutes and reserve assignments via CNO. I did my best to reeducate him though I doubt it worked. There’s a reason why Johnny go get em works there.
