Any "Latest & Greatest about Delta?" Part 2

For at home entertainment on reserve, divide the daily reserve value by 24 (.175 ish), multiply that by the pay rate and leave it on display. It's a subtle reminder of "working" to protect the integrity of Delta Air Lines international flying schedule by being available with 18 hours notice.

Back in the day, VFR 121 actually was a thing at certain shops' opspecs, but only for turboprops. You had to work with your dispatcher prior to departure, they had to agree, and the whole thing was a pre-planed exercise. The rules were complicated, and when you boiled it down, it was useful only for a few very specific types of operations. It saved precisely zero amount of time, and there was always a chance when you got to your designation, they'd say "remain clear of the Class B".
It was most certainly not something you pulled out of your back end to try to make happen.

We need more FO's, or pilots in general to download that pay/time calculator that shows you real time how much money you are making. Next time your fellow crew member is visited by the Good Idea Fairy, just plop the phone by the center console and say "see that? That's how much you get paid to sit here and wait for the problem to figure itself out".
If I hear ATC tell me there's departure delays out of new York due to radar outage, you're gonna hear me on the radio asking what taxiway I can shut down engines at to save gas. gimme a heads up so I can start em up and get my checklists done. FO and I are gonna start calculating EDP, doing pay math and watching the printer for a reroute.
Side note: shout-out to HK for his streak of reasonably good arguments

It’s shocking to me that anyone here would believe (even for a second) that departing a major class B airport VFR, bumbling around VFR for almost 100nm, then trying to pick up an IFR clearance from a distant TRACON later is even remotely legal per our Ops Specs / Airway manual.
Airway Manual 4.7.1 actually gives you the requirements for allowing it.

Everything has to fall into place perfectly for it to be safe, legal, and practical though. I wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole.

I haven't read anywhere that they are going away on a specific day other than your normal pass anniversary a year later. I haven't even received my 4 yet as my pass anniversary is coming up in a few weeks.

JKBetween the wage theft and state sick leave theft, they should be worth 1 millllllllion dollars. Or at least $3K the average underpayment.

Without digging up the contract, what are the limitations of the PVPP (two days prior to vacation) on your schedule. I thought they just blocked PBS, but tried to whiteslip a one day trip and I got a "does not meet contractural time limitations" msg during PCS. Looking through SRH, it appears that they do block PBS but apparently they also block pickups just like actual vacation days. I guess now I know.

Some of you haven't flown VFR down the Hudson in a 121 operation and it shows.
As FG says, it's a legal option at Delta to depart VFR and pick up you clearance airborne down the road. (within 50 nm)
