I was scolded by an aCPO for booking an S1 back from my brother's death. Utilized S1 going out was fine, but not back. Called to get permission and was told no, despite the ambiguous language in the policy.

Sounds like a power trip. Don’t understand why the CPOs have these needs to assert dominance.

How else are we supposed to know they are in charge? I mean, they could come out of their offices and greet pilots, be available when they are in their offices and answer the phones when you call with an issue. Or, they could hide in their labyrinth, hide behind their front office linemen and put your issue into a queue and call you back hours to days later

I suspect maybe he was scolded because he failed to get it approved in advance per policy. Usually they will give you a S1 both ways.

Preapproval is not required before travel; however, the employee should notify their manager at their earliest convenience that an emergency has occurred to avoid penalties.

Supposedly, they are saying that so much is still happening behind the scenes even after 'closed', that the column was deemed obsolete. Or something.
