Haven't heard any firm numbers. The general concensus is that we're going to hire a minimum of 1000/yr for the forseeable future. We probably would have resumed hiring this fall to catch up on staffing but the company is driving every cost possible into next year in order to have a banner profit this year for our 100th anniversary. Somewhere I heard 1800 being tossed out as a hiring target for next year. That feels about right given a lot of categories are under staffed right now and we retire another ~500 pilots next year so net growth of 1000-1300 pilots next year is reasonable. I'm sure some of that depends on deliveries. If we ever start getting the Max-10 that will drive a lot of hiring.

I’ve heard 1800 tossed around too. Delta pilot recruitment spoke at OBAP today, so I was hoping there was a specific number shared. Or did they just beat around the bush and not really answer it. 🤔

I’d say it’s a long shot but worth a try. Even in the 90s Delta had what 8000 ish pilots? Most (though definitely not all) of those guys who were active during that decade have retired but we do have some who frequent this forum. Maybe if you post your Dad’s category and initials you might get a bite, you never know.

True. Of the two options, I'm more of a give me more money type. I'd rather we get more per diem, even if it starts to be taxed, than spend more capital on getting us more airplane food.

In my experience one of the things the company hasn’t screwed up is paying my correct hourly wage. All the other soft pay is nice but the company screws it up and I don’t get paid right. Same with meals. Instead of the 69th chicken or beef decision just pay me more money so I can buy orange chicken at Panda.

They even screw that up if on a fleet with multiple rates.

Just another reason for increased pay banding. At a minimum, the 73N and 320 fleet should pay the same, none of this 319 pays different than a 321N stupidity.

Get rid of multi-rates fleets....319 pays same as 321 NEO, etc....problem solves.

Then double my pay rates....stop nickel and diming per diem, crew meals, etc, and sections with lots of language that the company can decipher in their own interest (reroute, coverage, etc).

$1000 (Capt) and $500 (FO ) multiplied by xx number of credit hours = $$$$....this is 2nd grade multiplication with ZERO room for interpretation!
