I didn’t, but am busy today and don’t have time to really look into it. A quick glance at it on my phone showed me I needed more time and a bigger screen.

Yep. 2019 data.. DAL, UAL and AA are all within $50~ total cost per block hour. Going on the metric we aren’t any more “expensive” than the other airlines.

I’m waiting for the EDV thread that says “Staple Delta”…we still have Nick James - (EDV MEC chairman.)

He probably gets on the Delta list next week.

Perhaps sailingfun could chime in with the specific metric he was using that put us as least productive.

Done it at least a dozen times on here. Tired of repeating it. Simple version we averaged 40 to 42 block hours per pilot pre 911. In around 2007 we were up to 52 or so hours per pilot. In 2018-19 back to about 40 to 42. You can simply view all the work rule changes over the various time frames and the numbers make sense. I posted those also.

Anecdotes aren’t data, but in 2018-2019 I was getting really sick of deadheading constantly and flying 5 day trips with 3 different CAs.

My block hours on a trip were probably down, but not my time riding an airplane. But hey, if the company decides that’s how they’re going to build trips…

(Actually, I hated all the DH time. It’s not like I was getting first class seats, or even comfort+. And DHing just gets annoying anyway.)

Do you think being in Bankruptcy "around 2007" has anything to do with that spike in productivity?

If I recall correctly, 2018-2019 was a pretty profitable timeframe. I would assume the factors that push us lower on block hours also work to push up the revenue. I also wonder how large amounts of hiring factored into utilization rates.

Do you pull your data from the MIT website? I was starting to compare a few air lines but when I saw that American is listed with 32,647 pilots for 2018 I began to question the accuracy. Anyone else notice irregularities?
