Thanks Big E. What is interesting is that there are all these shenanigans going on, yet to talk about them is undermining the union. Yet when the contract is settled and written, nobody GAS about those same shenanigans. So I want to know what is the proper time to be talking about all of this. Apathy is what gets us what we have. And as I have said before I am a 30+ year ALPA supporting koolaid drinker, but this is too much for even me.

The Council 66 chairman showed his true colors as a sore loser. It was bad enough that he scheduled something as important as a recall meeting after the December bids had closed, his hysterical email demonstrates why he isn’t qualified for the top job at the Delta MEC.

Council 1 trying to weigh in on another council’s business is just dandy, because everyone knows that air line pilots love carpetbaggers.
I don't know DH or TK, they weren't my reps. However, TK sending out that C66 update was just sour grapes and inappropriate in what hopefully is the final stages section 6 negotiations. He clearly doesn't have the temperament to MEC Chairman. I'm glad he wasn't elected.

At least he's qualified and current as a Delta pilot.

Plenty of current and qualified pilots I wouldn't want leading our MEC.

It really just depends on whose "side" he's on. People argued incessantly about reps who intentionally avoided flying the line by either becoming non-current through strategic drops of leave or delaying courses for months. Personally, I don't think anyone should be allowed to be a rep and not be current. However, I've argued this unsuccessfully about other reps whom I'm sure you support. One, who I am sure you support, was NFLY when he ran for LEC rep last year. No one seemed to care that he wasn't current or qualified because he was a champion of the DZ.

Aaaaaand? Doesn't mean he was the right choice. And for the record, I believe reps should be qualified and current as a Delta pilot.

I’m not worried at all about the PWA negotiations being affected by this. The NC has been doing a great job holding the line while the situation around us develops into a great environment. $100K signing bonuses for regional FOs, profits returning and revenues at their highs, FAs with 4+16% increases this year, billions available for investments in partnerships after billions lost on those same partnerships, WB orders and rumors of more, economies of scale driving costs down as we return to 100+% flying, recruiting needs at an all time high, GSs and fatigue calls pointing to necessary QOL changes, inflation driven pilot exceptions, massively failed underwhelming TAs at peer carriers and “me too” at the only laggard to have ratified.

The MEC has a mandate and a pilot group with an expectation to deliver. Any sub par AIP will be highly scrutinized and with a 9 to 8 majority a robust con paper and debate could easily swing a single vote, however MEMRAT will prevail. This is the best ever environment for section 6 in my career and that of anyone I know. The unwashed masses will see to this PWA being epic. I have no doubt.

Sometimes trust your gut. Sometimes don’t. I contacted my reps and said based on what I’d heard I definitely didn’t think DH was the guy. They didn’t tell me anything about him to change my mind. I’m not dumb enough to think we should pull the guy before he throws a pitch (since we like baseball analogies) but I have reservations that nobody seems interested in addressing. If you can I’d like to hear. If not I’ll keep wondering. Not life changing either way.

I'm not sure who you are talking about but that speaks to the apathy I talked about earlier, and it also points to the fact that most aren't interested in ANY of this BS until their ox is getting gored.. So now that we are in the alleged end game (I ain't convinced of it) of negotiations, everyone is talking about the new chairman. Once the contract is a thing, apathy will once again take over. Frankly I shouldn't care because I don't have to worry too much about the new MEC chair messing up my life.

Agreed on both counts.
