Just food for thought...I'm out...... but in the ambivalent camp.
Wrong question. Should a rep move up to a new ALPA job while on Disability?

I've been on Disability 2x, one of them for over 2 years. It would have been really nice to replace that income loss.

FYI, according to the seniority lists, our new MEC chairman has been on Disability since at least July, which means he ran out of sick time some time in June.

If the above is correct, what's the problem?

IOW ....to make double what the line pilot makes in disability you actually have to work. I know....kinda a strange concept for those that roll thunder with PB days
You are correct.

This is incorrect. He is asking about a line pilot's ability to make double via and ALPA position OR other employment. What position would pay you half of you regular line pay? Certainly not Mcdonalds.

I just reread his campaign letter. He doesn't mention anything about his situation. He speaks about his union experience and his furlough and 25 years at Delta. He also says this. "Every new MEC administration has an opportunity to learn from the past – but this relies on the trust you place in your elected reps."

Regardless of weather or not a McDonalds job can match you FAE, he’s correct about the mechanics of the offset.

Curious, how do they check how much you make at another job while on disability or is it the honor system?

The have you sign a form stating whether you had any outside income or not and possibly require you to provide the copies of any 1099 or w2 wages. I may be wrong but I believe the offset was changed to apply for only the first 36 months of disability then its all yours with no offset.

How is that relevant? He knows what's best, because he's been doing ALPA work for... forever.

In order to draw flight pay in any form, wouldn't he have to hold a valid medical? If not, are there any other gigs available out there that one can get to sit on ass and collect flight pay?

This. is. wrong. He needs to step aside.
