You didn't answer my question. Would you mandate that a great rep has to resign? IOW...you expect him to work for free or step down?
Not sure what good comes of that...seems more like, "He's getting a good deal (which he works for) ,therefor, I am against it"
Just food for thought...I'm out...... but in the ambivalent camp.

I've been on Disability 2x, one of them for over 2 years. It would have been really nice to replace that income loss.
FYI, according to the seniority lists, our new MEC chairman has been on Disability since at least July, which means he ran out of sick time some time in June.

So, is this accurate? If a line pilot goes out on disability he will eventually get 50% FAE just by sitting at home with his feet propped up. IF he choose to work(whether it be for ALPA or for McDonalds) he can make up to 100% of what his FAE was and then the disability is offset 1:1 . The only way to make more would be if his other job paid more than FAE at which point the disability payment would be 0??? That about right?
If the above is correct, what's the problem?
IOW ....to make double what the line pilot makes in disability you actually have to work. I know....kinda a strange concept for those that roll thunder with PB days

Wrong question. Should a rep move up to a new ALPA job while on Disability?

Regardless of weather or not a McDonalds job can match you FAE, he’s correct about the mechanics of the offset.

The have you sign a form stating whether you had any outside income or not and possibly require you to provide the copies of any 1099 or w2 wages. I may be wrong but I believe the offset was changed to apply for only the first 36 months of disability then its all yours with no offset.

I wish that was my experience along with others I know. Regardless you can’t draw full disability and get full pay on flight pay loss. The disability program rules are available on Deltanet. If he is on full flight pay it’s likely his disability payment would be zero unless he had a FAE far higher than flight pay loss.
This. is. wrong. He needs to step aside.
