I get how the current system is a cost saving feature for the company. That was my point about OOBWS over GS reducing the aggregate value of the PWA. I won't begrudge anyone exercising a contractual right, but I have also politely shared my viewpoint face to face on the matter. No drama ensued much to the disappointment of those who think such a conversation demands a verbal assault and a call to pro stans.
BTW, "politely sharing" in such a situation is probably viewed as passive aggressive. Good strategy on the flight deck.

Meh, I wouldn't give a crap if someone said that to me. I have zero problem discussing this type of stuff with people, even if we disagree, as in this case. Someone has to be a bit weak if they can't debate stuff like this with someone who may disagree with them.

I agree, but there are power imbalances senior/junior A/B etc. Often times people just play along because it's a work environment. I tend to not say much unless the other person brings it up, then I'm honest and civil. Sometimes it enhances communication, often times it does not.

You brought this exact scenario up months ago. I still can't believe you would discuss this with someone exercising their contractual right. If you have a problem with the coverage ladder, email your rep.

I don’t live in any base and don’t care which base I fly out of. I sometimes drop some or all of my schedule, then WS/OOBWS whatever rotations work best. We already have a contractual mechanism that restricts excessive WS and OOBWS from devaluing our contract - the WS pickup limit.

I get the point someone else made regarding A/B. I haven't come across a Captain on an OOBWS, it's only been other FOs. When WBA finally happens I'll reign in OOBWS opinions with the Bs. I'll also refrain from discussing Ferrari maintenance tips, finding a hangar for my jet and progress on my Boat Captain license for my retirement yacht.
