Of course, it is endemic.
I don't watch the news (haven't had a cable subscription since the 1990's) but masks (and condoms) have been around. These are about the simplest tools that exist.
The condom simile works. My howitzer is blazing and there are zillions of wanna-be Bucking Bar babies, but the spread is nearly eliminated.
Yeah, that's the visual ... :-)

You can't possibly think what's happening now is blind lady justice going where the evidence leads. As the "big guy" says, "come on, man!" Its been weaponized and politicized and you're so "blue no matter who" you're OK with it. Fair enough, but at least admit it.
Selective enforcement is the worst kind of corruption because it attempts to mask itself in the air of legitimacy.
What if you were secretly followed and suddenly got a year's worth of speeding tickets for every individual instance you went 1 or more over? You'd probably owe a billion dollars and have infinity points on your licence but hey, the law's the law, right?
Care to sit for a 16 hour purgery trap while your political enemy's agents who personally hate you and have already looked at your entire life's emails and only need you to stumble one time with any inconsistency whatsoever and boom 5+ year felony...but you'd totally sit for that because you're clean and have nothing to hide I'm sure.
And you don't get to erase history simply by using the word trope. Beria was infamous for selective prosecution. He coined the term "show me the man and I'll show you the crime." I knew of him historically before I'd ever heard of Bannon so nice try but another swing and a miss, and an ad homenim at that. I expect better from you.
