Confused about Buddy Pass basics

Yeah I’ve said this same thing. Never understood how this description fit since I can see the seat count that includes them. I understand there’s other unseen threats, but have no idea how HKs are one of them. They need to stop being called hope killers.

Particularly international that requires a visa. They’ve known they are going on this flight for awhile.

That truly grinds my gears. We list weeks in advance as a courtesy so that others can make an educated decision. Then there are others who list at the last minute, because they can.

She would often list around an hour out, her and 2-4 grandkids to "go see a show on broadway, museum etc"
You were hired in the 70s. You're gonna get on . Just list.
This was a CRJ200 commute so the 3-5 seats she'd take would often be all open seats.
Drove a bunch of us nuts.

What a bunch of cheapskates whining about the intricacies of free travel. You all make $200K-$700K a year on base pay. Pry that clam in your pocket open and buy tickets if you actually want to go somewhere. Hell, you can even afford C+ or First every now and then. Non rev is for that once or twice a year transoceanic trip when you can get D1.

Oh, things happen, times change, and you don't get what you once had? Who knew? You do get to constantly complain for the rest of your career though, right?

When I got hired it was free travel anywhere I wanted to go anytime. 65-70% load factor. It was a huge bennefit. Now I have to spend $5K+ a year on travel for the fam.

I purposely wait until about 24 out to list. I don’t live in a hub so most of the time I don’t know where I’m going to connect through, I’ve got about 5 options. So I wait until the day before to decide based on load factors. I’ve seen junior non-revs disappear after I list too early and then I don’t end up taking that flight because another suits me better. They could have gotten on, but they were scared off.
