They won’t if it’s an OAL flight. 23.X does not require the backup to be a Delta flight.

If it's a Delta flight you get positive space. Non revs have nothing to do with it. I am not sure if the union sorted it out but around 2015 timeframe I called for positive space I was informed by the base manager in NYC that she would grant it but I would get a letter in my file. I commuted for 30 years and never had a failure to commute so I was a bit surprised. I was not concerned because scheduling called me for the GS at 10AM with a major snowstorm in the NE. I told them I could not make it and they begged me to just try.
I opted out of principle to not take the letter and use the contractual policy even though I new the CP would squash the letter. Funny part was that when I called Crew scheduling to tell them I was unable to commute they said no problem flight already canceled. They then offered me a much better GS with a later report and positive spaced me up. I also got paid for the first trip.
Karma!

nah. Reserves, reroutes, and green slips cover that just like they cover any unable to commute call that results in you being completely unable to make it (or any other irregularity). My commute isn’t more important than anyone else’s travel.

Recent reports of the company not honoring the FOM positive space if the flight is full.

Not surprising if true. Without it being codified in the PWA, nothing is forcing them to keep doing it.

The irony lies in dropping the commuting pilot’s trip instead, then letting scheduling chop it up into multiple pieces with a bunch of newly-created DHs on full flights.

Just the fact that you can call and get a positive space ticket if there are seats open on most any commute tells me that the company does view your commute more important than other non-revs. Happens all the time. Depending on conditions they will almost always positive space you. They don’t look at the non-rev list, they look at open seats.

sounds like there’s already a solution that doesn’t require your commute to be at a higher priority than any else’s. And more to the point, overqualified’s hypothetical involved a ride home, not to work.

Interesting name. Appears he's in trouble for more than stowing away on aircraft. Bit of a rap sheet already.

Wonder how long he's been playing this game?

More info

so your example already has a method in place. Copy. How much should i give up in our contract for you to get a benny that wasnt there when you started this business?
be specific

theres a common thread here of people wanting stuff on the backs of others….can’t quite put my finger on it …..

There are a lot of things we got that weren't there when many started. Were you arguing against getting the ability to JS because it wasn't available when you started?
