So for SLC, we've still got a trip or two to go. CDG, LHR, AMS, ICN. Some of which have seasonal ups and downs I think. I don't think HNL counts (it's seasonal as well). FCO would still only put it at 5. I'm still surprised SLC doesn't have a GRU trip out of there. Delta basically gives up all traffic to South America west of the Mississippi to LATAM out of LAX.
And for what it's worth, network has said 4 year round daily WB departures for a domicile in the past. At least that's what they've discussed with specifically with SLC, and was the justification back when they announced their plans in the AE memos ~4 years ago (then pulled back due to being unsure if 330 would be long term fleet).

Just a guess, but there are some markets where the point of sale is mostly Americans, on others it's mostly foreign, and some where it's split. In general, where POS is predominantly foreign, the JV host country preferably operates. I'd guess LAX does well with foreign POS and the stage is relatively long, and they are lower cost operators.

Just be thankful for what it is now. When I hired on there were less than 60 NB B’s based there, a small ER base and most of it was subbed out to AS. It took them 8 years to figure out that market and start to even grow it. You get the weather and outdoor things to do, but arguably the worst flying. Get to a WB, fly your SYD and enjoy 19+ days off a month. Spend the rest of the days doing what other states plan vacations around.

It has alway been that way. The competition in LAX is extreme- the big three, AS and WN have a massive presence and that doesn’t include all the foreign carries at the Bradley terminal.
