You don’t know this. While I’m certain deal making is happening you are crossing a line when you say most IAs are deals without facts to back this up.

Point of order, I've gotten 2 IAs doing nothing but seeing its crew scheduling, send to VM, call CS, enter pin, "speak to a scheduler" and by the time I'm on hold I can see what trip it is via the voicemail transcription.
And gotten the angry calls from randos. Now if its someone on IA #7 in one month, yeah that's probably sketch. I've never gotten more than 1 IA in a month. I probably could've gotten #2 last month but it was a report NOW and I just started installing a new boiler and didn't care about a 1 day IA. That took forever to fill. Got 2 calls for it. I did make it up to GS#8 in 2022 at 96% in seat, but NYC 320A manning was crap at the time. And I bid to roll thunder. |

It has nothing to do with inverse seniority, that's just a catch-all label for the system they're using. It's a 23m7 assignment that has no seniority or order to it (to be replaced by QS in the next few months).
If a callout happens for something already covered, it means someone accepted to fly it before the phone call went out. I learned recently that even if they already have a pilot, their system still automatically sends the call out while they change the trip code to IA and immediately assign it. |

This is what I believed was happening. But now, I think they are mostly calling pilots prior to trips being assigned. Just because I did not receive a call at a certain time, doesn't mean than a pilot junior to me did not receive the automated IA call 30 minutes before my phone rang. I think it has gone to less of a free for all, and now just a system rewarding juniority.
Maybe my case is an anomaly but I consistently lose out on IAs to guys way senior to me. Not just overall company # but in category %. |

I got an IA call, immediately hung up and called back for it. On hold for 20 mins and the guy that got the award was 7,000 numbers senior to me, about 45-50% more senior to me. I physically could not answer the phone faster than I already am.

Agree, I'm getting a mix of both senior and junior being awarded. However, recently it's been trending more junior. That's why it is so difficult to figure out what the company is doing. Likely, it's a mix of everything. Whereas before, lots of trips were being covered without any attempt to call, now most covered trips are being accompanied by calls, even if after the fact. My local union rep was unable to say what the company is actually doing, only what the contract allows. He suggested I call CS and ask, but there is a good chance every person will answer differently, if at all. I think most of us just want to know what is actually happening "most of the time" so we can play the game our seniority allows. Seems like no-one actually knows how the IA is being run on a day to day basis. A combo of dealmaking, and half following the contract. |
ATL 320B today, so far only 2 GS's, but 22 IA's, 3 of those are A#2 already. What happened?

If they are skipping the GS step, you should lose out every single time. IA is a punishment, not a positive. I can’t wait for this non-sense to end.
If the IA doesn't come from the "Junior manning" region of France, it's just sparkling greenslip. |

I knew that would bring out the protests. Every A#2 is suspicious, every #3 is a deal maker. #1s are either legit or deals 50/50. I don't need evidence because I have been playing this game long enough. I got 1 IA in my career (the bad one) as a newish hire 88B. The statistical impossibility speaks for itself especially when #2 is the 4th day of the month.
