Right now, on the ground at MEX, there are two 321Ns one headed to Tijuana and the other to Mexicali.. Both are equivalent distance to LAX/ATL/SAN and they are somehow making NEOs work out of 7300' elevation.

Chicago and Bogota (high elevation both ends) on a 321N

AeroMexico is doing JFK-MEX on a 320Neo, but not sure if that's a 320 for performance or sizing to network. (as we are partners and have a daily 757-200 and occasionally a 763ER on the route)

Don’t you know the 73 is the real thing?

Meh, they can have all those places. Also EYW, flew there a lot in my regional years, I have 0 desire to go there in a bigger airplane.

Until someone makes an engine in the 35-40k thrust range, yeah, they are gonna have to use a smaller plane or a much bigger plane.

The 757 is the 757 because of its engines, wing, and gear.
-Current engines don’t approach the 37k thrust the P&W engines put out
- all current NBs are limiting themselves to 118’ wingspans for gate space. Limiting how well the wing can perform
- double bogey gear is heavy and overkill 98% of the time. Not worth it for the 2% margin cases

i doubt we see another large NB perform like the 757.

BOG and UIO can take widebodies, in the US likely the A221, and 319 from the current fleet, in the future who knows we will see. The 752 is just a different beast, the wing, combined with the fact that it has double bogeys, insane braking, and way more thrust than it needs. I think the competition will be between the A320-273N and the MAX 8 with 28K.

I checked flight stats today and it showed 320N as aircraft type.

Just rechecked. Now showing Max8. OK. They aren't doing JFK on a NEO or the one I saw was a one off.

Yea Aeromexico doesn’t own any 320’s.

But to your point, Avianca has been flying JFK-BOG on 320neo’s.

they fly the 320neo to ORD as well, keep in mind. These are not the highest thrust version possible either. These are -251N, Azul use the -253N in Brazil. If configured properly, this is an extremely capable airplane. The caveat is once you have recliners in F and TVs, it gets a lot heavier than brochure. Despite chatter over here, I have a hard time believing that this plane wouldn’t be great for EGE, JAC(where UA already use 320ceo’s) BOG, UIO, SNA. LATAM have A320-273N’s as well, same with Volaris,
