I do give him credit for catapulting EVs forward and for Starlink, but it's not because he's some kind of genius. He has grand ideas and is able to hire smart people to bring some of them to fruition.

Elon has always been an idiot. He thinks big, is very enthusiastic, and is very convincing/charismatic (I'm not sure how he pulls this off since he's a trash tier public speaker).

This isn't necessarily directed at you Khan. But it's always funny seeing people trash him, as they drive their Tesla (with the anti-Elon sticker no less) home to use their Starlink home internet. But what you just described is most people who do things that change the world. Think back to all the big names who built American, Rockerfeller/Carnegie/Vanderbilt/Ford/etc..., none of them were genius, in fact, today many of them would be in jail for their business practices. By todays standards, many of them weren't necessarily great dudes. It's undeniable that this dude has had a huge, positive impact on the world. Sure he hired the right people, but he is the force behind all that change. He only fell out of favor because he backed a particular politician, which is beyond ridiculous.

Political actions aside, there are plenty of reasons to not like Elon. For every good thing his companies have done, he himself has done 10 dumb things. Putting him on a pedestal is no different than thinking Ed Bastian is solely responsible for every good thing Delta has ever done. Most people who don't like Elon are simply sick of every big tech used car salesman. He is not an engineer - he is a hype man and a figure head. He spends most of his time overpromising and underdelivering.
He has been saying self driving is 12 months away for over a decade now. He said going to the moon was a waste of time, but now that he realizes he can't get to Mars, it turns out the moon is actually a good goal. His goal was to be on Mars now, but instead, he is still trying to get his prototype into orbit. The Tesla Roadster was advertised in 2017 for a 2020 launch... now it's 2027. His idea to solve traffic was to dig underground... but then he didn't realize that most urban areas have very poor records of underground infrastructure, so that "genius idea" is nothing more than a lame theme park ride. Remember the hyper tunnel? Remember when he called the Thai soccer team coach a child molester simply because they ignored his sketch of a submarine he made that wouldn't even fit through the cave?
Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink are considered successful, but there are still some issues. BYD cars are half the price and about 90% as good. Tesla really needs to speed up their development process if they want to keep their lead. They can't afford to spend a decade to launch a new model anymore. Space is a testament to what engineers can do with an unlimited budget. THAT is very impressive, but so are the pyramids. I don't give the Pharaoh's credit for the engineering and I don't give Elon credit for the technical accomplishments of SpaceX. Maybe he can turn SpaceX into a profitable company in the future. He is not an engineer... he is a monorail salesman.

Again, no one is saying Tesla isn't a great company, or that Elon isn't smart. Most are saying that Elon companies like Tesla and Starlink are over hyped to the point that there is a cult like following of the companies, specifically the nosebleed stock valuations, and Elon, for all his genius, needlessly feeds the cult movement with outlandish and unrealistic statements, particularly the Cybercab grifting that's gone on for years

I don't really care much for him one way or another, but I can acknowledge Tesla makes a good car and Starlink is 10x better than Viasat.

He also doesn't really care much about Tesla anymore. He's a founder, not a "extender". He needs to spin off his ventures that he's not interested in anymore. If Tesla doesn't evolve and release a new model soon, they could be passed as other players enter the market (cough BYD).
He disrupted the market for electric cars for sure. And I give him credit for that. But lets not deny his hard right turn.
