It’s believable.

RG’s sole purpose at the table is to attempt to dupe the MEC/NC into trading auto-accept for items that will ultimately cost less. His career hinges on moving the Flight Ops budget back toward historical levels. He’s not going to concede after one month by signing an agreement that permanently transfers all auto-accept costs to other areas of the contract. He’s firmly in the “denial” phase.

More than likely, his tactics have already failed. We’ll pivot to the long game, the C-suite will eventually accept that Flight Ops’ costs are not moving backwards, and a deal will be signed after a couple years. If we’re lucky, RG and HT will become their sacrificial lambs in the interim.

And how do we know this? It's very plausible, but them conceding defeat to some extent on costs to get the operation back on track is also very possible. No doubt they're going to try and reduce the cost as much as they can but we can't say for sure if getting the "budget back to historical levels" is a deal breaker or not.

That's the problem with this site, someone says something and it goes unquestioned. People pile on with more unverified conjecture and after a few days it paints a picture that could be completely different from reality.

Because some of us understand RG’s background and mentality better than others.

They don’t need anything from us to get the operation back on track. That’s on them. They have the tools they need to restore the operation in the current contract. They don’t want to pay for those tools, nor are they organized enough to utilize them effectively thanks to HT’s trainwreck of a Crew Resources department.

RG’s sole mission is cost control. That’s been his entire career.

Everything is hearsay and innuendo. Nothing more.

Until you hear it officially from the MEC/NC don't believe a word of what you "hear" otherwise.

So the answer is no, you don't have any good info but are proclaiming things as fact. Who's to say that, despite his desires, he's being ordered to get the deal done and not to exceed [amount above historical levels]?

Honestly, I'd be shocked if the higher-ups are taking a hands off approach and leaving him to his own devices.

You won’t find anyone at any level of Delta management who is ready to concede and permanently bake all costs associated with auto-accept into the contract. Or any amount near that level (as you suggest).

The reality is that the costs already are permanently baked into the contract. But it’s going to take this management team much longer than the first two months of Section 6 to figure out.
