people should spend more time looking at the accident/ incident events in non 121 operations, that are mostly non-union. Lots of people end up dead every year due to mistakes our union has working on fixing for us for 95 years. nothing is perfect, but management will push you into a smoking hole, at least our union try’s to stop them, and us from finding that hole.

I posted this as an admission but thanks for piling on. So in your opinion how does this 0.1% change the societal status of unions. You get your point for correcting the internet but do you care to argue the actual point?

Because the teachers generally go into teaching because they love it.. the average school board would prefer to pay them minimum wage.. thus the unions.

Example: my local teacher's union just got offered a contract that gave them an average of 1.5% raise for the next four years along with raising the class size..

In your example, the parents may call them stunts but I bet they are operating within the contract.

No desire to argue. Just correcting incorrect statements. 🫡

…so no real gain in union membership when looked at the trend over the last 2 decades. My point stands. Thanks for the correction. The average joe public doesn’t care as stated earlier.

FWIW every time there's one of those "this is how much airline pilots make" posts on social media, the majority of responses are some variation of "good, it's a tough job with huge responsibility and demanding schedules, they deserve every penny", so I think we have more sympathy out there than you think. The average American is still not 100% comfortable flying from my anecdotal observation on the line, and they don't mind if their pilots, who hold their life in their hands, are well paid. The recent media attention on some high profile incidents only magnifies this feeling. If ALPA gets its messaging right, we'll have all the support we need from the traveling public.

Very good point. “Pay them whatever they want!” is most often the sentiment I see.

What is up with us continuing to extend the leash for this "quick" deal? I guess they are making some progress but I feel like it's past time we pivot to comprehensive section 6 negotiations. So many outstanding issues that need to be ironed out. Take the time and do it right.

Pay rates are always last, after they cost out the rest of the contract.
