Are you saying they could replace 17000 pilots?
Btw, there is plenty of history of strikes who... were very determined... That didn't get PATCOd. NYC transportation unions and teachers in 2018 are the most recent examples I'm aware of. The Post Office also has a history of striking when they decide they need to.
I just can't never abide when people use PATCO as some kind of guarantee that will always happen for all future strikes. If they've gotten in your head that much, they've already won.
The USA has a long history of extremely hardcore and militant unionism. Some battles were lost, some were won. I agree we're losing the war right now, but it's not a lost cause
Speaking of which, just a couple days ago the LIRR train engineers went on strike and won 14.7% with 3 years of retro.

And the ATC system still hasn't recovered.
You are kinda making my point here, if you're not willing to fight, to break whatever rules or laws are imposed on you to limit your ability to maximize your compensation for trading your life force for money then you're just willingly being a slave.
The capitalist don't care about you or your family, they're only concern is the bottom line.

A bit of a double edged sword, here. Capitalism is why most of us have a job flying airplanes, and it is capitalism that has netted us careers making in the tens of millions of dollars over its lifespan.
“They” only care about their bottom line, sure. And we only care about ours. That is why we fight together as a union for our bottom line - a concept made possible by Capitalism.

Agreed. However, as labor, we need to understand where we fit in the big picture so that we can advocate for ourselves. Too many pilots think in terms of being in partnership with management, that they are part of the team that makes the airline work. That attitude just sets them up for being manipulated.

Mostly unionized...All the legacies and majors are. Some have aggressive/hostile relationships with management NWA/AA come to mind. Some have historically cooperative relationships with management DAL/SWA. Pay and working conditions comparable along the continuum. Which is the cart and which is the horse? The answer will depend on one's outlook... but a case can be made for either answer.
The only thing I personally know(and I explained to my sons)....It is much more pleasant to work in a non-hostile environment. Exerting pressure to achieve your objective is warranted sometimes...but I caution, don't let it become a way of life on every single issue and don't internalize/personalize it. Like raising kids or finding happiness with a significant other...... "Pick your battles". JMHO
