Gratitude / Capt buys?

Here’s one to ignite the anti-tippers: my wife and I travel with a cache of Starbucks gift cards to pass to the entire cabin crew if/when we get Delta One or Premium Select.
Coach? Nope. Domestic? Nope. Pilots? Nope (because that’s weird and awkward when you fly with them the following week).
Van drivers? $2 USD, no matter what country, how many bags, etc, etc. $2 each ride.
Hotel staff? Not when I’m on a Delta trip. Delta is the customer, not me. But yes when I’m traveling personally. Typically $10/night, just enough to keep my toothbrush out of the toilet.
I don’t tip for counter service, only seated service (yes, I tip at bars).
For ref, I’m an Xennial (born between 1975 and 1980).
The part of the job I hate the most is the constant nickel and diming of everyone trying to get their little piece of cheese from “rich” pilots.
However, there are a lot of hardworking people out there hustling to achieve a better life. I respect that, but also realize that leaving a bigger gratuity won’t be life changing for a service worker. It’s long game, $2 at a time.

YGTBFKM with this BS. Van drivers are paid to drive us from A to B safely and on time. I don't know what it is, but it's at least minimum wage. Tip them if you want to, but thinking it's required it's the most asinine bull**** I've ever seen.
You think they deserve a tip because 5-15 of your lives are in their hands? We have 100-350 lives in our hands every flight, where are our tips? GTFO with your BS. You're tipping them because you've been indoctrinated to the American tipping culture BS designed to let their boss pay them less. That's it.
Yes, I tip van drivers when they toss my bags. I still think it's completely F'd up to do so.

It's about tradition -- and reputation.

I left a $20 bill on top of the toilet when it wouldn't flush at the NYC long and i had to get front desk to send a guy up, and I always tip the van, but honestly just out of tradition (and yea prob peer pressure), even as a $23/hr Dash-8 FO. Am I a good person? 25% chance my $2 is just going towards a new vape re-load.

Point of order: No one should be talking in the van/bus. Ever. Straight to jail. It should be a cocoon of silence and reflection before we start the grind, or after a long day. Digest the flight plan or plan your dinner.
And some of the worst conversations on crew vans/busses have not come from pilots. As Morrissey would say, "Caligula would have blushed."

Straight to jail, indeed!

This. I still don’t understand how the millennials are STILL getting disparaged, over 20 years later since they started getting heat.
Millennials are basically 40ish years old now, with families and careers. Gen Z and Gen Alpha are the young ones now, but somehow Millenials are still being called out for being the young/entitled/ignorant/whatever generation.

Those dang
I've yet to shout "Get off my lawn" but the day is coming and my dad will be so proud. Maybe I'll just say "Go watch a screen" to an Alpha.
It's more about age than generations. What's old is new again.
