That's very GenX of you.

In almost a decade here I’ve literally never seen a driver not unload bags. Mix of domestic and INTL.

The world is a better place for all of us if the haves (us) aren’t stingy. Who cares. If you tally all the non-tips over the course of a career that’s an extra few thousand dollars that your kids can squabble over when you die on top of your 8 figure 401k.

I cannot believe we are having a debate on whether or not to tip their van drivers.

This entire conversation is so strange to me. Millionaire captains bitching about how their FOs won’t tip $2, all while complaining about all the homeless people in the layover city.

Stop saying this is about making the lives of underpaid workers better. None of you care about that.

I figure my $5 is partial compensation for them having to listen to the insufferable bellyaching or bragging pilots excel at. I’m always impressed that they have the composure to not swerve into oncoming traffic or a bridge abutment just to shut these dudes up.
Same, been doing it since Covid, AND I’m a millennial. Go figure.

YGTBFKM with this BS. Van drivers are paid to drive us from A to B safely and on time. I don't know what it is, but it's at least minimum wage. Tip them if you want to, but thinking it's required it's the most asinine bull**** I've ever seen.

You think they deserve a tip because 5-15 of your lives are in their hands? We have 100-350 lives in our hands every flight, where are our tips? GTFO with your BS. You're tipping them because you've been indoctrinated to the American tipping culture BS designed to let their boss pay them less. That's it.

Yes, I tip van drivers when they toss my bags. I still think it's completely F'd up to do so.

APC is healing as we are back to debating van tips. Can we move to FA uniforms next?

Guarantee I made way less than you when I was a new hire here. Didn't matter. We tipped. That was the protocol. We're professionals - act like it.
