Bingo! If that was where they needed it why didn't we tie it to Intl. ops only?
I don't car what the intent of something is, all that matters is what CAN be done with it! The company, just like pilots and sick leave, will take full advantage of something.

Southwest fires opening shots in fare war

Digging into yesterdays big sell off in DAL stock, we learn that the May revenue shortfall was due in large part to Southwest starting a fare war in Atlanta.

"After digging through several weeks of individual fare filings, it appears that Southwest disproportionately targeted Atlanta with sharply lower, promotional walk-up fares" in a May 18 fare action, Baker wrote, in a report issued shortly before the close. Of 200-plus affected markets, he said, 46 involved Atlanta, which is Delta's largest hub. For instance, the one-way Atlanta-Baltimore sale fare was $79 compared with a walk-up fare of $304, while Atlanta-Los Angeles was $209 compared with a walk-up of $404. The sale fares applied to travel between May 18 and June 6.

Yeah, and the analysts were still bullish on Delta I believe. Hence the stock rebounding today. A fare war with Delta in Atlanta? Are you kidding?

Because the Company wants to use ALV+15, the extra 2 hour ALV for regular line holders, the new 4+30, and the new FAR rest rules to build domestic trips like you have never seen before.

5-8 day trips with multiple 24 hour + sits. But, lower credit for longer trips. Less productive trips, etc.

Let's see...an 8 day trip worth 36 hours....that's 72 hours for 16 days work.

Of course with no changes to reroute rules....anything else can happen as long as you make it home on day 8.

Will your W2 increase with this TA? Maybe, if you are lucky enough to not get displaced by new efficiencies..........

Of course, if you do stay in your category...you'll most likely be working even more days every month.

Not kidding ... but this keeps Southwest's image in place.

Orland based AirTran convinced the Atlanta O&D market that they were Atlanta's "hometown airline." When Delta would sponsor teams, AirTran would get the star players to advertise for them. While Delta of off pursuing the 12% of Atlanta residents who are gay, AirTran made 100% of Atlanta residents happy with the Coral Reef exhibit at the Atlanta Aquarium.

Cash fat Southwest can afford to bring a fight to cash strapped Delta. That's the competitive advantage of having very little debt.

Oh, you'll be effecient.....

Day 1...7 hour block

Day 2....5 hour block

Day 3.... 24 hour sit

Etc....

At the end of 8 days you be bumping 30 in 7, but get 36 hours pay....due to the 4+30 rule

EDIT part: Forgot to add to less efficient aspect that you mock is just down the road when the new FAR rest rules take effect....You will get your rest....just not at home!

And your source? I'll have to do some digging to see if the new FTDT rigs allow what your proposing. It sounds far fetched.

In your example the trip is already worth 16:45 hours.
