Sorry to interrupt Denzel, but can anyone give me a quick explanation of the new reserve? My old man is considering changing things up a bit and isnt too good at reading contracts. I have not been able to read the reserve section yet. Basically he is wondering what the "x days" are and the individual callout times, he is really just looking to see if he can sit at home and commute in only when called for a trip. We live in a big Delta hub now so commuting wouldnt be too bad. Feel free to PM me if needed. Thanks guys

Shouldn't you be polishin' up your old man's scoot and gettin him a beer?

350 total 50 seaters minus:

16 Comair 50's...
= 268 leftover 50's
Minus: 142 Pinnacle 50's?

=126 leftover 50's

Uh oh.

And more ALPA pilots get canned while Non-union and IBT pilots gain work.

That 35% should have been 50-70%...

There won't be very many ALPA regional pilots left at DCI when this is over. With the number of pilots Delta needs to hire in the next decade, most of the current DCI guys who survive this mess and want to work for Delta, will eventually work for Delta. That's of course if Delta sticks to that 35%. It's not all bad news for us.

NERD-
Got the Galaxy SII. Been great, upgraded yesterday to ICS. The new Galaxy is supposedly better yet with even larger screen. I do like the 4.5" screen as it is easy to read PDFs... Been with Sprint 12 years. I think the data has slowed since Apple came on line. Overall, Galaxy gets a thumbs up, Sprint--not so much (but it's the cheapest so as a pilot, I'll stick with it for now).

I'm all for you, Boomer, junglebus and the other ALPA DCI pilots to get here. My heartburn is that the "future DCI" will primarily go to undercutting, piggybacking, and often backstabbing non-union and "Go-jet scabbish" portion of the IBT (its not even the Airline Division of Teamsters)....

You guys have literally paid your dues for years, you deserve a higher status than all those "non-members". 35% was NOT enough. It should have been ONLY ALPA pilots can be hired if the pilot is coming directly from another US airline (unless presently furloughed from an ALPA carrier).

That 35% is contractual with the Delta pilots. Delta has to do it unless they want to change the contract. Can you see the Delta pilots agreeing to change that in the contract for a pay increase?

Read the full language on the 35% clause. Delta has all the wiggle room they need to ignore that requirement if compliance becomes inconvenient.

I know right. Plus they pretty much ripped off the CVR from the Alaska MD80 crash off the California coast. Spliced it with the results from UAL 292 and Sully then threw in the dynamic of a functioning alcoholic to counterbalance the heroism, which seemes like the only original thing about it. At least they got the airplane wrong.

Full disclosure: I'm probably going to see it anyway.

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with Verizon. It runs pure Android (currently Ice Cream Sandwich but can easily be upgraded to Jelly Bean). It's absolutely amazing. The screen is high def and the 4G through Verizon is FAST! I've had speeds approaching 30 Mbps! I rooted my phone and have a custom Jelly Bean ROM on it right now. Google has some pretty cool features on their new O/S. Google Now and Google Voice Search are pretty darn nice. There are some funny videos online showing how Google Voice Search destroys Apple's Siri. Apple puts out a good phone but the current Android phones are smoking the iPhone. The greatest thing is that I upgraded my phone for $50. You can also go to the Google Play store and buy a completely unlocked GSM phone and activate with whichever provider you want. The Galaxy S3 is also a very nice phone and is getting great reviews, but you'll have some Samsung "bloatware" with it. I'm not very familiar with the EVO. Hope this helps!

By the way, Target Mobile has the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for $50. Might want to check that out. Costco usually runs some good phone deals, too.

Yeah, when in the dark and on the arrival the cockpit lights up in a blue light with no noise... wow, such theatrics.

Or if you hit the test button and get that test message at the gate. Then you're like, wait, we gettin' rerouted before we even start? No. :D
