I'm sure this has been discussed at great length but a question for everyone.....I am on short call again tomorrow for the 4th time already. I have no problem with that at all since I understand it's my job, but the issue I have is that we have about 40 guys on reserve, and there are about 15 other guys in my 4 day bucket who have sat ZERO shortcalls this month!
What gives!? I mean, I thought they were supposed to have shortcall buckets as well...ie...if days of availability are the same, they won't give the junior guy 6 SC's before they give a senior guy 1. I have obviously misunderstood how this system is supposed to work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I had the page number wrong, I didn't have the bid package in front of me, and was going by memory. Glad we all figured it out!

My bid category is only at 18%, so no extra day for me. Haven't flown yet so it's no big deal.

I've had this same problem. Are you on short call today? If so is it a later RAP period (after 9am)? Unfortunately they probably pulled the availibility list before you started your third short call. If you change your preferences to sit an earlier short call I think that should help.

I like later RAP periods so have to change my preferences as soon as I'm assigned my third short call. The system is flawed IMO. Hope that helps.

Not on short call today. Tomorrow is my first day of availability. I could understand it if we were understaffed, but we have tons of guys with zero SC's in my same availability bucket. I can't help feeling that I'm getting screwed, if that makes any sense. I'm not complaining just don't understand how I could be on my 4th SC, while there are guys with the same days of availability with zero SC's. Makes no sense at all.

Have they been flying while you've been sitting SC? Honestly the new SC assignment system is the one part of the new reserve system that I like. It needs some tweaking but it's a good start.

I don't blame you for feeling screwed. That's garbage if you're not on today. I would call scheduling and ask. If they don't give you a valid reason, talk to a supervisor. It seems like every month I'm having to call them and ask why I got a trip or short call when the contract says otherwise. It's like pulling teeth to get them to seriously look at the situation some times. Good luck, hope they drop your SC. That's not right.

No....but at the same time no one else has flown. That's my issue with it, all things being EQUAL, why do I have 4SC's, and 12-15 other guys/gals have 0. Doesn't make any sense.
