NRT can still be a transfer hub...wasn't there a recent tidbit about "beach" jets? Overflying NRT doesn't mean we are going to blow it off, it may mean we are looking at more big Asian cities to serve directly. That, and "what you didn't hear is more important than what you did."
A lot of guys "new" to the NRT operation have a fundamental misunderstanding of what in is and how it works. The engine that drives it, and, in fact, most of the profitability in Asia is not connecting traffic, but O&D. That was NWA's secret all these years. They weren't operating a hub there to make connections because they couldn't fly nonstop, or simply as a stopping point to/from the US. What they were doing is operating a pseudo-domestic Asian airline, because that's where the real money is. All of the illuminatii who said the 787 would bypass NRT NEVER understood the real nature of why NRT was run the way it was. Understand this, and you understand the HND issue. Nu |

I'm hearing that none of these good rumors would be out if you'd gotten your way on the TA...:p
So if you had been a rep, would you have allowed the pilots to vote on the TA? That's an important question. Would you have represented the 38% or the majority? Leading :D You know where I stood on the TA. What the reps should have done, and what the will of the pilots once placed with the decision are two different things. I said months ago that we had until the end of August to get to a TA. Whatever happened with the TA is over and gone. We have a PWA and will move forward from here. |
