I think MGT is wanting to see the direction AMR turns over the next several weeks before starting our hiring process. IMHO, just too many possibilities if things went terribly wrong over there. Our team is in delay mode, delay delay delay....till the writing is on the wall.

I am sure as the day is long that, DAL has done its due diligence on any corporate opportunities that may arise. Our early TA and resultant PWA are a direct result of RA looking forward, wanting to restructure DCI, restructure debt, and have lines of credit agreed to but not taken for any possibilities that may result. It's a prudent business decision, and one he had to make. Notice no new 76 seaters are on order. SKW owned 50's are going to fly for AMR out of DFW and LAX, but no official statement on DAL's owned 50's yet. |
With ual about to hire, they'll get a jump on dal with hiring the top applicants. Come on dal, get to moving!

I was in a van last week with a CAL 2005 hire and this is what he told me he's delaying capt upgrade for qol, but could hold it A 2005 CAL hire is in the top 15% on the 73n, 25% in the 756 and a easy line holder on the 777 in IAH. A late 2006 hire is in the 46% on the 756 in EWR. That sli is going to be interesting to watch. Oh and we hire totally different personality types or so it seems. |

We shall see. They have the whole merger synergies thing to go through as well.

I just read the "Weekly Update" on DNET, and as of right now, Delta is adequately staffed. No plans to hire until late 2013 for the 2014 schedule.

The MD88 and career progression measured in epochs will do that for us anyway. (I was going to use the word "glacial" but glaciers absolutely rip compared to the Delta "capacity reductions are our leverage" division of SkyTeam)

It is going to get interesting. Talked with a fellow FO in NY. Someone he knows is already talking to chief pilots over there at UAL and will jump Ma Delta's ship if hired. I know 3 guys from my 2010 hire group that have jumped ship for QOL issues.
