Where are the DTW 737 rumors coming from? I didn't glean much about it happening from any of the "updates." It certainly makes more sense than having a DC9 category here. I still can't understand why they aren't all crewed out of ATL now. Only 7 DC9 departures per day out of DTW, and there's even a 5 day trip in the package with EVERY layover in ATL! I didn't count them all, but just looking at the layovers in Nov for the 9, easily over 50% are in ATL.

Yeah, I remember seeing that awhile back, but was just hoping that it would be sooner rather than later. Unfortunately it looks like that will be the only avenue off the DC9 since the MD won't be happening any time soon. They got us all excited last spring saying that it was going away, then changed their minds.

Dragon, you will continue to get bullied until you "get your mind right", fall in line and are assimliated into "I'm happy to get pooped on for the rest of my career thank you very much".
Continue to throw that hammer. The ideology of our union needs to change otherwise we are all screwed until the last day. I never feel like Delta is doing the "pooping" the sh1t seems to be coming from the people I pay every month. I expect DAL management to do everything in its power to maximize $$ for the shareholders (I still have my shares). I expect my union to maximize our profitability without giving away the farm. This illustrates the problem with the idea of change from within. The system will go to extraordinary lengths to protect itself. Now back to the second half (GT v Clem and OU v TTU) |

While I can understand that you'd be excited about getting a free move, I certainly hope you aren't excited about ANY airplanes leaving mainline.
You are absolutely correct, but the trips SUCK SO BAD that many of the 9 crews are over it and just want off, myself included. The stagnation that we all are experiencing is the real culprit. I'd be happy just to bid off and get on something better (which I can hold, but am marooned on this thing until we see some positive growth.) I certainly understand that there thousands of others in the same situation, I'm just griping. |

Not at all. But...
What I'm observing is candidates who think the major focus should be on the Policy Manual. I've never seen that focus, except for this election. I surmise that it's a play to get what they want via some political maneuvering versus a political majority. It might be a way to gain more individual influence in a structure that has confusing and crossed lines of responsibility. Fundamentally, it probably displays a poor understanding of effective organizations. I've seen in the past a different focus. Where do we fall short in pay, working conditions, benefits, etc., and how do we improve them? So does changing the Policy Manual get us better pay because it makes us a more effective organization? I'd like to hear what is broken, and how to fix it, before jack hammering the foundation. Your thoughts? "Effective Leadership"...yea, I've heard that buzzword before. What it basically means is "yea, we'll write some stuff down and call it policy, but whenever anyone wants to use "the rules" that prevents us from steamrollering them, well, then, we'll do what we want and call it "leadership". I think the last book I read about "effective leadership" was on the book shelf next to "Eat Yourself Thin with Oreos in just Thirty Days!" It is absolutely no wonder you guys don't get it. Nu |

I couldn't agree more. It's an easy vote for me. I want an MEC focused on our contract, the other stuff being pandered by some of the candidates was just political fluff.
Why would we want to model our MEC after less effective MEC's? Our MEC is delivering results, improving the pay of the average Delta pilot, capturing more Delta pilot flying inside the Delta system, which increases staffing requirements for the mainline, improving domestic and international code share language, expanded joint venture protections and increasing the size of the Delta mainline fleet to 796 aircraft by the end of 2015. And they did it under-budget. We don't need lint pickers, or reps with a political ax to grind, we need leadership with it's eye on what's important. I cannot speak to the current candidates, although joining the winning side and claiming the high road while not living up to previous campaign promises and rhetoric is not a desirable characteristic I want to see in a candidate. Speaking to the current small field in C20 I have heard there will be some stealth candidates who are either going to write themselves in or have ballot stuffing at the nomination meeting. Kilowatts and Rhythm and Blues. Not what I want to see in a candidate either. If you are running, stand up and have the stones to announce and appeal to the whole LEC on your merits. |
