Fly up to Seattle for your float rating. There you can take off from Lake Washington and head out over the Puget Sound and island hop. No alligators, just good fishing off the float. Just remember to push your plane further out when the tide is going out. Don't ask how I know this.

I went to Seattle for a week last year with the wife. We fell in love with the area (especially San Juan Islands and Olympic Penninsula). I really enjoyed seeing all the float planes. Nothing like a great looking beaver:). That is my kind of flying, things get boring at FL430!! I would love to do my seaplane rating at Kenmore.... But Browns is pretty cheap compared to them

I'm sure he would take you out for a spin if you want to see what the latest, greatest, carbon fiber 20' racing cat looks like, that's his ride. If you do get down to Browns, give me a PM, I'll see if I can get you out on mine.

Thanks for the info! If I end up down your way I'll shoot you a PM. We go to KISM a few times a year.

Although I will never fly this plane, I am truly disgusted by the decision and wonder if this will ignite some more DPA support. And for those of you who voted for the contract, are you happy of the results so far? Not meant to flame, but just gain perspective from others opinions.

Disappointed in the ruling to say the least. Thinking that the DPA would have done better is completely straw man. Look to USAPA to see where we'll be going if those clowns take over.

Speaking of, did anyone notice the huge uptick in cards during the TA, only to have them drop to a trickle that stays just below their threshold to call for an election? I mean if there were that much interest I would have expected the trajectory of new cards to have carried them over the top months ago.

Of course if that happened the cards would have to be certified before a vote, in which case I suspect that many would be found to be expired, or otherwise invalidated. If there actually were enough cards, however unlikely, they would lose the election, either of which would be the end of their misrepresentations, outright lies, and divisiveness.

How convenient they stop just short of the number that would trigger either of the aforementioned scenarios. C'mon let's have some real transparency DPA, and let's have you publicly certify the number of valid cards you have.

Sailor,

No high blood pressure here, way past that stage, just continued disappointment over the direction of things and how I think they will continue. Have been stuck between the "fix what we have" versus "get something new" for awhile and am now thinking a fresh start may be what we need here at DL.

Was a 'no' voter and have wanted the reasons for that vote to not come to fruition, but it appears they are so far, but will have to wait and see a little longer for the rest. I was just fishing for opinions, NOT starting up a whole debate over contract, etc. etc.

What you'll need to learn to get your blood pressure down is that management runs the airline, we fly it. While we are lucky to have the CROT and a relatively robust Fatigue Risk Management plan, we may not have the right to disagree with the company, in the eyes of an arbitrator.

This helpful tidbit may assist as well. An arbitrator must rule based on past precedent, the contract itself, negotiating history, as well as his own gut feelings. If there was nothing binding him to an A330-300 Class I facility, then he was forced to rule based on - you guessed it - anything but the whims of the pilot group.

I was a yes voter. I did my own analysis. In fact I didn't pay much attention to the junk that spewed forth from the company, or ALPA, because it was all spin. The contract is solid, and I think it was a good step in the right direction. It made me happy - and don't forget it's in the company's best interest to only impress 51% of the pilot group so - I guess I'm glad to be in the slight majority? What do you want me to say? I'm so sorry I voted yes and that I expressed my opinion in the interest of an affirmative vote and I repent for my sins which resulted in just as much stagnation as we would have had otherwise?

The issue on the -300 wasn't that it was going to go over 12 hrs, it was that they have to remove the current bunk room in order to install the Lie Flat seats. The company's proposal was to block a Lie Flat as a crew rest facility. They obviously won. Glad I retired.
