I'm trying to change seats on a deadhead, it says I'm not allowed to change to an open economy comfort seat because I'm not authorized to sit there.

Haven't messed with this since we had the economy comfort seats put in, is there a way to get my big butt in that seat?

And I hate deadheading.

Go to delta.com and sign in with your locator number. Choose change seats. It should let you unless the flights oversold.

Yeah that's what I was doing, delta.com won't let me change into the lone economy comfort seat that is open. About 9 middle seats available and one of them is economy comfort, I'll take it.

It just says...
Passenger is not eligible for this seat. Please select a new seat.

Travelnet says that flight has 15 open seats and 31 on that airport standby number.

I just sat in one all the way home, from LAX to MCO earlier today, next to a hyper active 6'4" nut job who would not sit still...for 4:30! I've always been able to book them as Buzz described, on Delta.com with my confirmation number.

In fact, yesterday in Narita I changed from one E/C seat to another, and there were only a few remaining....so I picked one next to the window, with an empty middle seat, but the big guy came on late and took the middle seat. :rolleyes:
