It must be newK's locator. I tried Barack Obama's locator and that didn't work. I did have the option for an in-seat TelePrompTer, however.

I'll try it again mañana when I'm inside 24 hours. Anybody else laying over in balmy MSP Sunday night?

My locator is good for a middle seat just about every time. I have to sweet talk the agents more often than not. I heard the Obama teleprompter mode only works on Air Force One. They will take your payment though. Every little bit helps. :D

I found lots of Delta planes in these pictures, but that probably won't make you feel any better:

Exactly! This (and the other mechanisms we have for picking up time) is the reason Delta doesn't need to hire pilots. Not JVs or code shares, not RJs. We are the enemy. I would bet that half the guys on this board who carp about the lack of growth are flying in excess of 80 hours every month.

So, almost 50% of the domestic flying is done by "other" airlines, and that has nothing to do with Delta pilots stagnation. You, sir, are brilliant.

That domestic flying was farmed out long ago, and it's been at a stable level for a while. We lose passengers to these code share partners...but we gain some, too, so the net result isn't as big as some would like to infer.

What has changed in the last few years, though, is the amount of time we're allowed to pick up. I don't know what category you're in, but I routinely fly with guys that fly in excess of 100 credits hours per month.

If the average block hours flown would go down to 80 hours, we would need 1000 more pilots.

Yeah, you're right. Thanks to your heads up, I looked at my stupid DH on Sunday. Same thing. Middle seat. Shows all kinds of EC seats available but just locks up when I pick one. Maybe it has to be inside 24 hours.

This, however, is something that definitely needs to be fixed. We shouldn't have to work our own travel on a scheduled DH. I also love the deer in the headlights look on the gate agent when we show up and say "hey, we're your deadheaders." Like we're trying to pimp a ride. C'mon Delta. Fix this!

In the past, the EC seats weren't available to us or the frequent flyers (they are still trying to sell them) until 24 hours prior to departure. So, list yourself, get the best seat you can then at 23:59 prior to departure go back into delta.com and reselect your seat. I forget where I read this, but I didn't discover it by trial and error:)

However, I thought this was fixed in the last contract. For the last 2 or 3 months, I've gotten an EC seat right off. A quick call to the CP Support Center will also get ya a good seat and really answer the question.
