and that's a problem because....?

If the contractual "deadline" is insufficient, I assume DALPA wouldn't have negotiated it.

That sounds a little vindictive, and stupid, and it doesn't account for the fact that PBS awards are done in conjunction with ALPA. However, I do agree that the flip side of them checking their work a bunch is slower awards, and we don't get mistakes often. In this case, seems to me the problem was in forcing two weeks (or more?) onto non-bidders, which charlie-bravoed other guys for their anniversaries. They re-ran to fix, and that's that.

I think the more interesting discussion is how the computer picks for non-bidders. After it tries for Christmas/Thanksgiving and summer, and goes to "any" week... does it pick arbitrarily, or take into consideration what junior bidders want?

I really think it is a sport for some on this board to get worked up about any even perceived slight or mistake by the company. I have made a mistake before and I saw first hand how it was handled by the company, I was impressed.

Now no metal was bent nor were people hurt it was an administrative type error, much like the vacation issue. I worry that instead of a call from a CP if some on this board have been in charge I would have been unemployed.

Sometimes a mistake is just that a mistake. In this instance it was recognized and the company fixed it. Time to move on.

Gotta go before they run out of grape kool aid

Some people just aren't happy unless others are miserable with them.

That's damn Carl. That's where he's been. At least he has a light so he doesn't get lost.

Maybe. But the Crew Planning did say to expect 7ER FO displacements. Maybe they'll all be in ATL?

I'm tired of training. It'd be nice to actually settle into a category.

I feel the same way. That's why I fly the 88. I would have bid the DC-9, but there was no ATL base when I came to the 88. These AE's don't even faze me anymore. I am solidly junior in my category. I don't have to worry about getting displaced though.

If it is for February then Set Condition > Vacation Slide....Choose the Vacation you want to slide (in case you have two in one month, it can happen when you get really old like me) ..... then choose the number of days you want to slide the vacation. If your vacation starts on the 8th choosing -4 makes it start on the 4th. Choosing +4 makes it start on the 12th. You can also select a range of days and it will try to use the furthest out slide first and then work back through the range. You can also use the "Else Start Next" to try various slide strategies with different bid groups.

It's for August. I just want to move it up one week to the week prior to kids starting school. I put in a vacation move up, but I don't expect that to go through. Next option will be to try and slide vacation ahead 6 days to start on a Monday. I am not sure how good of a chance I have of this going through. It would be nice to know as I actually plan on going on a non-refundable vacation this year...for once.

True, but let's not lose sight of what this place is. It's just a giant conversation furball, just like you would have in a crew lounge. Think about the personalities involved, all "Type A's", but all a little gossipy too, so maybe more like a bunch of really assertive teenage girls in a hallway at school.

You just know it's going to take a while for truth, or just reason, to seep into the conversation. Aftera bunch of drama, a few good points will be made. Some of the main actors will stand their ground, but some of the quieter ones will get something out of it, and go with that. Many won't be caught dead admitting they were struck by reason, some will, and eventually a more reasonable consenus will emerge. That's the nature of it.

(I'm sure ftb has a picture to illustrate this)

If you want to get to the heart of an issue, any issue, find the page where it pops up, go forward about three pages, and start working your way back until you see someone making sense. That's the meat of the discussion. Be particularly attentive when you look for it, because it's short-lived. Usually, the reasonable or logical point kills the discussion, which moves on to something even more "drama".

Welcome to APC.

You just can't slide into days that you would be unstacked. I remember there being unstacked days last year during the first week of August.
