Hopefully past experience has taught our MEC reps that they can not rely on ALPA National attorneys for advice on our scope clause as it relates to other ALPA carriers.
Those attorneys in Herndon have an enormous conflict of interest and they do NOT work for the Delta pilots. Of course they issued an opinion to our guys that ALPA National has done nothing wrong. What did we expect?

Lee Moak probably thinks he can control this situation. He thinks his "constructive" relationship with mangement will protect us all.
I hope he knows what he's doing. It is a huge step to start allowing Delta management to sign contracts with more than one pilot group.
Red lights are flashing all over the cockpit on this one.

Check,

Please lobby your Reps and write your association's President.

ALPA s attorneys bring tremendous experience and authority to the table when talking to our Reps. They are professional advocates. The only way we are a match for them is if we utilize our greater numbers and remind our Reps that this is a bottom up organization which Represents us.

In effect, our MEC and our pilots were locked out of the room by our own union. The effect might be minimal, but we simply can not let this stand without objection, or outright challenge.

P.S. What did you think about the contrasts in Bill Robert's statements? Frankly, I would take either of those prior opinions over what I think he is advising now. Digging into this further, maybe I found the source of the restrictions we had on holding companies which resulted in our Republic carve out and the advice the TWA guys got that they could not bind American. I dunno. Have not found all of those depositions online yet and Google does not cache the way it used to.

I really thought labor was going to be 12+ hours of holding my wifes hand while she screams in agony and curses my very existance.

Here we are 14 hours later- I'm very well rested, and shes doing great (more or less sleeping) thanks to the epidural. Modern medicine is really amazing. The "fun" part is yet to come....
