FTB - Carl,
I was just a little over the top. Sorry Ferd |

I expect him to tell the truth on investor calls. He did exactly that. It was our MEC administration that didn't tell the truth. They were intent to refute the comments of 5 LEC officers who questioned why we would settle for a TA that didn't come close to restoration and didn't cost management one additional penny. The MEC administration instead put out disinformation stating that the TA would increase costs by hundreds of millions of dollars. Completely untrue of course. But the MEC administration stated it anyway.
Carl Our Reps are great people, but they thus far have been unwilling to deal with the problems in our administration which marginalize their voice (thus marginalizing Delta pilots) on issues of importance. |

Geeze,
Cant we find a middle ground. I agree, stop what ever abuse the 1% may get away with. BUT, it was a pain in the ass to get a great commutable trip only to lose it to OE. THEN have the company start shoveling crap onto your line a couple days out. Can we please not throw the baby out with the bath water! Complete disclosure - I've never bid a LCA. Yes I'm always glad to fly with them because they are known good $hits and I actually learn a thing or two.....or I get the trip off - now |

I think I'm beginning to come around to the NWA way of paying for ot. The greenslip system is archaic and only rewards the very few.

I'm curious Wasatch - how long were you on Reserve?
I'm not trying to dodge your question but I've spent a significant percentage of my career on reserve as a First Officer on the 727/737 and DC-9. This month I bid reserve by choice, though I'm about in the middle of the category. I live in-base and the changes to the reserve system make it a viable choice from a QOL perspective. |
As a point of historical perspective, when I was a new hire, First Officers who were displaced from a trip so the Captain could give an IOE, had to "fly the trip" to get paid for it.
By "fly the trip" I mean they had to literally deadhead on every leg. Back then flights weren't as full and you had a decent chance of being in First Class, but it was a major PITA. That was clearly ridiculous and ALPA quite rightly convinced the company to change the policy.... |
How lively will Rolling Thunder be when a super senior pilot (CA or FO) bids reserve in the summer and puts all the off days on 1-11? Super senior pilot will now be making 80 hours to start and will be at the top of the pile for the GS lottery....
Go ahead and drop one or two PD's on a Sunday later in the month on the first PCS run (since the pilot will be senior and likely get early dibs on the drop, and now be no good for "over the weekend" trips). Either that or Looks like rolling thunder will probably pay 10 hours more right out of the gate! |
