In that case, I would be fine with 1.5 for anything above the top of LCV, up to ALV + 15, IOW, up to 7.5 hours @ 1.5 X.

That would be a decent tradeoff, wouldn't it?

Yes, anything that stops the abuse of the system in place, but I think management and Crew Resources loves what is in place.

under the NWA system there was still double time.

If people are willing to take WS at single pay, so that very few get a GS as it stands now, and you make it MORE attractive to pick time above 80, the amount of double pay will take a further hit. You let 1.5 in, you might as well kiss 2.0 goodbye altogether.

FTB, IMHO that shaded part on your graph extends all the way over to today. There has been no recovery, unemployment has stagnated if not increased if you count the numbers that have dropped off the stats. Indefinite QE is going to kill us.

What's in place is allowed by the contract. You want to change 1.5 X, you have to open the language. You open language for 1.5, you put in a hard cap, vacation time counts towards it, and I'm happy.

I don't really care what management likes, I just want pilots that reap the benefits of acting as a group, and negotiate accordingly.

My point exactly, we can have both. Pilots shouldn't be having to run up against the block hour limit. I've flown with many FO's who are strapped with kids now going off to college, etc., who have been in the right seat for a long time. Some have been displaced out of captain positions as well. Except for the 2008 and later hires, most of our pilots are in their late 40's and on up. I checked out as a 727A in less than 8 years and it's not right that the career expectations of those junior to me have been side tracked.

Wait til Delta merges with Alaska. F/O careers will be sidetracked again as a bunch of Alaska pilots end up in Delta widebody seats.

I wonder how many routes we'd have to cut?

One thing to keep in mind when adding US/AA is that 1+1 does not equal 2 in a merger, as we have discovered. :)
