Woah.

Are you able to elaborate on that at all?

Or anyone else on here that has a MacBook Air?

I have one and never realized it didn't have to be taken out!

Has the TSA ever questioned it?

Had a GSA agent in SAT and one in BOS(after kcm was not working) both tell me I did not need to take it out. Just going off what they said. iPad is the same way. Never take that out.

The Ipad is approved by the TSA to remain in your bag. The Macbook air is not approved however looks like a Ipad enough that you may not be asked to take it out. I have a small netbook I only carry part time and have forgotton to take it out a few times. Perhaps half the time they don't say anything.

In recurrent, how many of you are asked to list from memory where all the emergency equipment is by respective seat number? A Captain was telling me he had that on his last recurrent. He also got reamed on the debrief on a D period for doing his fuel pump check starting with the right pump and working left instead of starting with the DC pump and working to the right. The good thing was the entire debrief was dedicated to the fuel panel test and not some other stuff he didn't want to discuss. ;) The bad thing was the entire debrief time was used.

This sounds like the NWA way of doing check rides. By the book with every switch and call out.

How does it fit in the maddog cockpit?

I have a Brightline bag as well. Great bag. It sits back perfectly on the MDM locker. Allows access to the printer without moving the bag. The huge amount of external pockets make it really easy to stay organized. I think it is the best solution for the maddog driver. I commute as well, fits under seats.

Makes sense. When I took it out both times they told me I did not need to. I commented that it was a Macbook Air and both times they responded, yep. I guess the begging for forgiveness is the way to go

They need to come up with a better navigation option.

First, they removed space for the FOs bag. The FOs man purse, computer bag plus Mcrib, has no place either unless you rest it on top of the printer and MDM. And we need those like every few minutes. Plus it blocks the QRH which we need every other few minutes.

Just put your computer in the overhead bin located at seat 33A. Wait. In recurrent, how many of you are asked to list from memory where all the emergency equipment is by respective seat number? Must be new. I have always been asked what is here or there, and all I do is look at the placards. Near the front of each class of cabin, back of each class of cabin, and under FA Jumpseats.

On the 767/757 on the after start flow they did change the way they wanted you to perform it by turning the APU switch off first before going the the ECS panel. The whole two minute cool down thing, even though it goes off the bleed source for the time, not a switch or valve position. Works for me either way.

I'll do whatever they ask, if they want me to hold the cargo panel fire test button with one hand and stretch forward and cancel with the bell at the fire handles, no problemo. Philosophy on checkrides, obey, over study, don't say much and get out early. The funny part about the fuel test story is what the CA/FO did by accident on their LOFT was completely overlooked because the guy was steaming mad about the fuel panel test. Big picture SA was lost.

But like you, I look for placards and assume that planes are somewhat different between each other. Although I think the 88/90s are starting to get very standard. 757/767??? That's a waste of brain power memorizing seat locations of emergency equipment. You probably have as many varieties of airplanes as the Duggard family has kids.

What a instructor can ask as far as memory items is carefully spelled out. He should have picked up his stuff and left. Then request to see the fleet captain.

Does anyone know why the some of the Maddog trips have an "L" in front of the trip number?

Line check maybe?
