Fixed your post re: government support.
WRT doughnuts, if ALPA would stop doing stupid stuff, they would probably go away. See council 66 FO rep elections for the latest stupidity... |

Yup, I have flown with CN a few times and think he's a great guy, but I think something happens to the brain when these guys go and do DALPA work. They get indocrinated and it's over. He made a big mistake by taking the course of action he did.

Okay, so if Delta forced you to live and work in a city other than where you live for 4 years, would you expect to be reimbursed for that or would you just maintain two households on your own dime? Do you count the cost of the hotels you stay in on layovers as compensation? How about transportation to and from the hotels? How about training expense for recurrent? What about per diem and meals that you get on the airplane, are you adding that up?
This whole compensation thing is just a bunch of crap. Much of the compensation is reimbursement for housing expense, car expense, and many other expenses, something that anyone would expect that is forced to spend most of their time away from home for a short TDY. All of those items listed above get charged to the "compensation" of the President when much of it is reimbursement for expenses incurred. If he has to host a party for Congressman and is reimbursed for the expense, guess what it shows up as "compensation." The ALPA President works every day of the year without fail. The best part of my job is that I fly my trip, go home and forget about Delta until my next sign in. Lee never gets that kind of break. It just brings up this whole populist argument that has been the staple of internet boards for a long time now. I bet if you go on some forum for gate agents or mechanics, they talk about what a bunch of overpaid underworked prima donas that Delta pilots are. It is all a matter of perspective. I am constantly surprised by pilots that then buy into this whole populism crap. Go out into the real world and let everyone know how you just can't get by on $250,000 a year and see what comes your way. Are you then going to ask for a pay cut? Bless his heart that he still commutes to DC. |

One of the first things they told us at the P2P meeting was, "Don't put this stuff on the forum, and if you do post, don't tell anyone you are a P2P person..." I just got a P2P email yesterday and the first line was, "Not for public disclosure." So W. T. F. is that all about? Legal liability. They tell you that if you, as a "Dalpa Person" say something in public, like, "We're mad as heck and we're not going to take it anymore..." It could be used against DALPA by the company in a lawsuit, and they point to our C2K lawsuit (the 49'rs) as proof. It's like we are all on double secret probation. |

Any idea if the proposed SEA-LHR would be on Delta metal or Virgin America's?
Delta, Virgin Atlantic File Antitrust Immunity Application - Apr 8, 2013 "In addition, if antitrust immunity is approved, Delta plans to begin new nonstop service between Seattle and London-Heathrow, expanding competition on that important business market. The new service would complement Delta's growing international gateway in Seattle." |

Well, that makes one of us that thinks that. |

Err, actually they are mostly hiring.... "Well if you love those other airlines so much, why don't you marry them? The door is always open and you can leave at any time." But I've already invested six years here and have been slipping backwards or stagnated the entire time. "No, you haven't been stagnated. 8 of the last 10 bids have had positive movement, and we have hundreds of new captain jobs." Huh, it still seems I would need about 15 years seniority to hold the flying I was doing as a new hire. "Well, that's because of all the mil leave returns and the lie flat mods. Plus, you've had a cumulative 49% pay increase while the other legacy pilots have had their pay cut in half." Weird, because my W-2 has an amount less than 5 years ago. Well, that's because of the time value of money. Someday you'll be senior enough to understand." |
