Well at the very least this may force us to think twice about overplaying the conservative international capacity-cut card.
Might force us to keep the pressure on internationally. The gulf carriers are smelling blood in the water in Athens and Milan... But just for perspective: NYC - Milan weekly seats: Emirates: 2520 weekly seats Transatlantic JV: 3290 weekly seats (Delta: 1722, Alitalia: 1568) It wouldn't take much to crash Emirates yields, unfortunately the continuing flight to Dubai very well may be subsidizing the NYC Milan leg... Cheers George Yeahbut...they don't need "Yeilds" to survive, they are state owned. They can lose money forever, we however, cannot. And we cannot compete with them head to head, cost wise, service wise or price wise. Oh, and they pay less for their one hundred brand new 777's than we do for our 18 older ones. So we got that going for us. |

Curious... does DL prohibit taking pictures in flight out of sterile cockpit? Nearly every pilot I know does so.

DAL has a nice little U.S. domestic feed to a modest international feed. Honestly, most of our international flying is done by other carriers. I don't have stats in front of me, but looking at our relatively small wb fleet one could surmise DAL is not in position to "home grow" our international capacity. Rather, going forward DAL will be reliant upon foreign carriers to fly routes for us (ie: Virgin Atlantic deal). Somebody tell me I'm wrong. UAL has a much larger wb fleet. We may have a notional 787 order but no real serious wb orders are in the works.

Does EK need to make a profit on any of its legs?
