It would absolutely be, except that our government does not give a damn about our airlines. Every other country on the planet has an airline policy that protects their flag carriers.. but not us....

I used to fly with a bunch of DAL guys who told me they didn't go to FDX because they didn't want to fly all night.......guess they never flew the LAX 73N....:rolleyes:

Who would be the "Flag carrier" for the US? That's the problem as I see it, as there are three national majors that Could compete world wide. In those countries that subsidize their carrier it is the only one available.....Emirates, Qatar, Aeroflot, Ethiad, South African, Singapore, etc.
So who would be the lucky recipient of govt hand outs?

The issue that DL has really hit home on is how the US EXIM bank hooks up these international carriers with much lower interest loans than the US carriers can get. AI pays a million dollars less a year in interest on their 777s than DL does. That is huuge. We not only aren't supported by the US, We are handicapped by our own country...

So, it seems there are some who want the government to help all the airlines, but not to have bailed out any of the auto manufacturer's? :rolleyes:

Where did I allude any of that in my post? It's not that I want the US to hold our hand... we are actively handicapped by our own country's policies. That's a big diffence than wanting a handout.
