IMHO "super entrepreneur" might not be a bad term. Not only does he have technical expertise, but more importantly, political expertise.

Moak's patronage is the most powerful force in our association. Musch more powerful than our governing documents or voting members. We are simply along for the ride. Fortunately about 80 percent of what the King does is good.

Not to change the subject but I thought you might get a kick out of this:

I just went to DL Net to check on May bid awards, back door'd it of course, and bingo, a whole bunch of Capt. X's show up!!

So I click on my category and sure enough, there's the May Bid Awards...

for 2012!!

I think someone in the G.O. forgot to push the FLUSH 2012 button. Funny that only the Catp. X's were there, no F/O's, for May 2012!

The good news is, I had a good line in 2012, I doubt May 2013 will be as good, most of our ATL trips have gone away, replaced by DH to everywhere to start and end.

Having just done my taxes, I must agree. Not the country our forefathers ever imagined I'm afraid. Just got my ALPA PAC sticker and pin. As much as I do criticize our union, the PAC is really the only method of directly fighting for our profession. The EU is in another big pu$h to open up foreign ownership, and cabotage is being discussed again. Not to mention our friends at the ExIm bank... Give till it hurts, lest it all be taken.

Too bad none of that will happen with the current administration in power.

I don't always agree with your political tirades, but I think you're onto simething here. You're looking back on the Bush Lorenzo-is-always-welcome-at-my-dinner-table-no-PEB-for-you-New-World-Order presidencies, and their desire to help the little guy at the expense of big business, their protectionist approach, and their ruthless clamping down on government largesse towards the military-industrial complex, and you're thinking "now, THOSE GUYS, those guys would really have my back", and weeping soft tears of nostalgia. Right?

I would just fly the 2012 schedule. What could possibly go wrong?

Expanding Ex-Im's Mandate Is A Big Mistake | Cato Institute

Here is good conservative view on the Ex-Im bank, T. It's quite critical of Obama (music to your ears) and the bank's support in Congress.

But if you read through it, it's critical of Obama's desire to use the bank to boost DOMESTIC sales to even out competition from foreign sources, as explained by the President in a speech made at Boeing in Seatte.

If I understand correctly, Obama wants to use the bank to sell Boeing to Delta.

That stupid Obama again, trying to help us and our company do transactions the way Airbus and Lufthansa or Air France work. What a jerk, right T?

I've been keeping my Jepps updated for just such an occasion. I assume Timbo did the same.

Right now, our own government is our biggest threat to our livelyhood.

I don't know how many of you know this but "United" was actually started by Boeing (under a different name that I can't quite remember offhand). It was eventually spun/sold off because of US AntiTrust laws.
