Is the extra pension funding for current retirees who are still collecting pension payments, or is paying off some type of pension-related debt?

I was under the impression that most, if not all, employee pension programs were done with.

No, only the pilots pension is done with. The other employee groups have a "promise to pay" still in place varying from frozen DB to regular DB. It is one of the "elephants in the room" financially for DAL (the obligation is somewhere around the $20B-$30B mark). Additionally, the frozen FNW pilots pension does have annual funding requirements.

Draw your own conclusions about the effectiveness of organized labor on this one.

Anyone think this will lead to more intl flying for Delta pilots?

I don't.

From deltanet:

The first phase of the codeshare agreement includes the Brasilia to Atlanta route and will be in operation by late May. The second phase will include Goiania, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba and Porto. The codeshare will eventually include routes from Sao Paulo to Atlanta, New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Detroit; Rio de Janeiro to Atlanta; and connecting destinations in the U.S.
Also from Deltanet:

Delta hopes to continue its Latin America expansion with new flights in Brazil, one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and air travel markets, the airline announced Tuesday in a release.

Delta has filed for approval to begin a second daily flight between Sao Paulo and New York-JFK and Atlanta, which would begin later this year. The new flights would add to Delta’s 35 weekly flights between Brazil and the U.S., which currently include service from Atlanta, Detroit and New York-JFK to Sao Paulo as well as service from Atlanta to both Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.

Customers can also access 24 destinations within Brazil thanks to Delta’s strategic alliance with GOL Linhas aéreas inteligentes.

It’s the first time in more than a decade that the U.S. Department of Transportation has the opportunity to allocate new Sao Paulo frequencies. These opportunities arise as direct result of the U.S. government’s success in negotiating a new air service agreement with Brazil, which is expected to result in a full Open Skies agreement by 2015.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say YES.... It does look like it will lead to more international flying for Delta Pilots.

I see ALPA negotiated a side letter allowing them to install video screens in pilot lounges to "keep us updated."

ALPA guys here are fond of lecturing us about how they must always give up something to get something in negotiations.

So what did we "give up" for that gem? (In addition to several thousand dollars of dues money spent on network and video equipment.)

I'd rather ALPA bought the TVs and then had a drawing to give them away. At least then the TVs would be watched.

Hint to ALPA: If what you're negotiating for doesn't give us a higher QOL, more money, and more time off...stop wasting our time and money.

Negotiating to spend our money on TVs to broadcast the company's talking points clearly misses on all three.

Rumor of Big D possibly buying some of CX's B747-400's....

CX can't park em fast enough, so maybe a good deal for DAL.

Cathay is all RR engines.

GOL Linhas (GOL) announced the implementation of GOL codeshare on Delta's (DAL) flights from Brasilia to Atlanta. GOL will now sell Delta's international tickets through its sales channels. Over the next months other markets will be included in the codeshare, including all Delta flights between Brazil and the United States, as well as key connecting markets operated by the U.S. company, GOL stated.

It should be noted that the increased CS is on the ATL BSB flight which is flown by, wait. Delta and Delta pilots. Its currently a 757 and is generally full. Might see an upgauge or more frequency if the added passengers from GOL ups the demand. We appear to be boarder-line on the demand curve right now.

Last time I was there, they agents were saying that cargo wise they could fill at a min a 767 daily, and AMR was responding with JFK service.

The few they got from SQ are PW. Maybe Marcal can verify.

Nada. It was a MOU not a LOA. Oh and its such a good idea that the former C66 FO Rep came up with that DALPA and DAL are both doing it.

The only plan that was "terminated" was the PMDAL pilot plan. All other plans are frozen but there are no new entrants in to any of the DB plans either.

I don't know, if that worked that well I'd dun already moved up 20 numbers.

The 757 has a fart shield too, that's a problem.

The should include that little tidbit of information when they displace pilots from the 767 / ER to the 737.
