It's what they call a Development Class, so it is full of Aero engineers, trying to apply airplane technology to the boats. Notice they are all using hard wings for sails now, and it was really where today's big cats got their ideas and where they first tested them, before they built up the 45 footers, which eventually led to the 72 footers.

On his personal racing sailboat, Tenacious, he was known to place 4 naked hotties standing at the back of the boat, so when they crossed the starting line, like magic, all the other boats fell in line close BEHIND him!

I took an early model Debonair on to a river bank than people were using as a fly in campsite. Followed the NTSB in. They were in a 58 Baron. It was fun, safe and saved a lot of driving / hiking to get to where we were going ... but ... muddy sand and retractable gear aircraft are a nightmare. Mud even went through the cut outs in the wing ribs and stuck in the the corrosion protection goo ... cleaned and cleaned... and cleaned, solvent soaked it and then sprayed the middle third of the wing with LPS3. 5 minutes of fun took at least 20 hours to restore.

I'll bet that was a mess!

The hanger blew down on top of it, it was crushed, so was I. Then the 42% pay cuts and the kids college tuition made sure I wouldn't be able to rebuild it.

He put a Franklin 125 in it, new fabric and paint, very nice job. It's only got .3 on it, but I don't think he wants to sell it. I just hope he lets me fly it once in a while. Another buddy has a Pietenpol with a C65 on it, same prop as the Cub, so we used to fly two ship to the pancake breakfasts. I get to fly that once in a while, and Phil Lockwood has let me fly his Air Cam a few times. I wish I could afford one of those on floats but until the 4 kids get off my payroll, the 16' catamaran is about all the fun I can afford!
