Crazy Story.....
I am on mloa deployed down range. The other day we were at the Deid in processing through immigration and customs so we could grab something to eat. For those who have had the privilege of this experience you know the Qatari's are very sensitive and despise aircrew and our sense of humor. They don't share our sense of humor so we have a very regimented skit that takes place in order to process the line. (IE: ID card in right hand, no hats, no sunglasses, no eye contact, no smiling or laughing). A tanker crew ahead of us had a guy who looked just like Alfred E. Newman. He hands the Qatari his ID and politely walks away. He is summoned back by the Qatari cops and placed in a holding cell. The Qatari's decided to deport him and black list him out of the country because he was "funny looking". This is no joke....I saw this take place with my own eyes. He was detained and placed on the first AF mission headed out of country leaving his crew stranded. Can you imagine if the U.S. customs stopped a Qatari and deported them because they were small, cartoon like characters who lacked any sense of personal hygiene and wiped their rear ends with their left hand. The press would have a field day with that. Black listed from Qatar...I could think of worse things. :) |

They are the 200LR's, which are probably too much airplane for the routes we have in mind. I doubt Boeing will discount them enough for that to be overlooked. I'd expect these to be placed with an Asian or ME carrier. Maybe Jetstar, so maybe a 3 way swap for their A330's? : )

Accident: Lionair B738 at Denpasar on Apr 13th 2013, landed short of runway and came to stop in sea
I think we can categorize this one under stupid pilot tricks... yikes! |
