A GS flown while not yet at the GS trigger for the month will still be coded as GS pay. If you then WS trips to get to the GS trigger that trip will be paid at 2X pay even though at the time you were below the GS trigger. You can even borrow hours from the bank to help get you to the GS trigger so the GS you flew will be paid 2X pay. You don't have to be above the trigger when you fly it, you just have to get to the trigger by the end of the month. I've seen alot of senior guys WS trips just for this reason after they have one GS, but are below the trigger.

Remember FTB's "alternate" logos for the clip art? I'll see if I can find them... it was hilarious!

I do remember that, it was hilarious. I recall the Jumpseat/Deadhead icon as a can of sardines.

Tomorrow is my 5th day of reserve this month. Tomorrow is my 5th short call of the month.

As a commuter I say, "UNCLE!"

At least I'm getting them out of the way...

Am I the only one watching the B's sweep the P's??

Wow, what a game!

At least I had plenty of Torpedo's...in case it went to OT.

I get a call from scheduling at 1822 giving me a "heads up" on my rotation tomorrow which reports at 0500. She tried to make it sound like she was doing me a solid by calling me then instead of 0330. How legit is this? I didn't get 12 hours notice yet Now I'm expected to make report time which She knows I wouldn't have made if called at 0330. I've been on mil leave for over a year and don't remember this tactic.

Scheduling sometimes goes on a fishing expedition to see if you will answer. Between your two short-calls duty periods you are on rest and have no obligation to answer the phone.

The scheduler is trying to guarantee a 1:30 callout with this "heads-up" call.

There is a term used to describe flying assigned inside 12 hours but before the beginning of a shortcall assignment, it's called a green-slip.

Cheers
George

Great series!! From game 7 against Toronto, the Bs have been unstoppable

Are you a Nole?:D So is my wife!

As the man above said, you don't want to answer your phone, ever, unless you WANT to fly, because they will try to stuff you, just like they did. So, what do you do? You let it ring, and check open time in DBMS. See if there's anything there that tickles your fancy, then decide if you want to call them back.

There is a lot of gamesmanship that goes into sitting reserve. There's Rolling Thunder, or Go Low, or Go High Early in December, etc. but the bottom line is, never, ever, answer your phone outside your obligation window, unless you are trying to fill up and go high. That's why God invented Caller ID and the OFF button.

And if you do by accident, answer your phone, your answer is; "It will take me about 2 hours to get there, the traffic is awful this time of day..." even at 3am.

Now, when I sat reserve a lot, as a commuter, and had Short Call, on my way to my commute, I would call Crew Scheds and tell them, "I'm on my way to the airport, anything comes up, CALL ME!" because I'd rather fly than sit in a black chair, and I'd rather they pay for my motel. But if you live in base, and you don't want to fly, never, ever, answer your phone until you have to.

Well, they are about to get the butts handed to them by the Blackhawks. The Hawks 2nd and third lines are better than the Bruins first line. Boston is way too slow to catch them. Hawks in 5, course they have to still beat the Kings (but that is just a technicality, right?)

You obviously haven't watched game 7 against Toronto, the entire Rangers series, or the SWEEP of Pittsburgh. I dig an "Original 6" Cup series, but those are bold words.
