Thanks, I was really confused on that....

Everybody ... the new model is a regional for 10+ years, then FO for another 15, if a guy is lucky enough not to get merged or have his airline's aircraft transferred out from under him to some alter ego flavor of the day.

Sometimes you remind me of George Bush when he was running for reelection against Bill Clinton. In a town hall style debate an attendee asked George Bush how much a gallon of milk cost. Bush was dumbstruck.

Smart guy ... completely unaware of what the majority deals with day to day. The real harm to outsourcing is forcing pilots to start over, repeatedly, for a whole damn career.

ahem, thank you

Have a great day and god bless that beautiful child that passed.
Additional info needed, please.

Like the other keyboard commandoes, you do nothing but sit on the sidelines, throwing rocks at the people who are actually trying to improve our prospects. Do you really think that you can effect change while sitting in your boxers in your hotel room, hammering away on a keyboard?

Despite what you may think, what is said on this board doesn't alter the course of our union. To even a greater extent than the ALPA message boards, this is becoming a forum for the disaffected outliers. Rational, balanced views are met with criticism and personal attacks.

Do you actually wonder why so many people have left this forum? I used to be on here frequently (back in the ACL65 days, when there was good information to be found here). Now, this thread is worth no more than an occasional drive-by. There still are some worthwhile posters on here (no, you're not one of 'em), but their voices are being drowned out by too many keyboard commandoes.
+10!

Best post I've read in a long time.

I know you are going to lambast me for suggesting to volunteer when one is not happy, but being told to volunteer when I had concern after concern is exactly what I did. It's not the end all, but its a start.

We as a pilot group need critical mass of our group. A divided group results in less leverage. How much less? Unknown, but looking inward and infighting that is not looking to improve the union nor the results means we are focusing on less process and product which directly effects every Delta Pilot and their family. The reach of this is not just 11,700 pilots but their families. That results in probably close to 100,000 lives being effected by a group not focusing on showing up to meetings demanding changes in whatever they see as wrong, and instead looking for a "easy" button that offers change without specifics, and unrealistic cure-alls .

The work may not be easy, and probably will be painstakingly frustrating for you, but I honestly feel that is more pilots double-downed on their careers and their union the results would be tangible.

Just my .02.
Great post, ACL. And I agree with you 100%.

But my point is that pay would not have to be a driving consideration in a merger scenario, and who's taking who's equipment.....
The only problem is, when it comes down to it, what other considerations do arbitrators take into account when they consider SLI's?

It's really all about the money and if a 747 captain is going to get paid the same as a 717 captain, why not merge 1:1, from the very top to the very bottom of the seniority list?
