By when? Did you think that they would bid out 1,000 spots by July 2013 for the 717 when they are coming at 3 a month for almost 30 months starting in late 2013 and ending in 2015 or 16? 3 aircraft a month starting in September. 3 aircraft per month, 4 months in 2013 times 7 crews per jet. What number do you come up with for that? They have already bid out 145 crews (290 pilots) for the 717 so far. Is that more or less than your math exercise I just gave you?

300 upgrades and more to come: Check that came true
Early retirement program just the same as the rest of the employees: Check that came true
Vacation any: Check
ADG: Check
Elimination of sick leave monitoring program: Check
Transfer of flying to mainline: Check, growth airplanes arriving in September, 220+ RJ-50 announced retirements, just as advertised. Regional capacity is already shrinking while mainline capacity is growing, Check, check, check
Set the pattern for bargaining: Check, United copy cats our agreement, American signs "me too" clause, US Airways along for the ride. The rest of the industry pay rates rise an average of 41% over the next 3 years to MATCH the Delta rates. That's right 41% increase on average just to match us. We reset the pattern for the whole industry and find me one professional negotiator that does not agree with that assessment.


Everything you highlighted in red has come true, so what are you talking about? Maybe you need to get back to the Narita Sports Bar and tell everyone how you are getting screwed by the Green Book guys now that the fences are down.

I agree with your math and logic here in regard to the 717 staffing...

We have less captains than we had even a year ago. What they are upgrading is not replacing what we've lost.

ADG is far below par and rsv pilots are still on a b-scale for rotation pay.

DL wanted the 717s and wanted to park the 50s... bad. That was coming with or without the contract.

Numerous things are contributing to the 7ER displacements. First of all, prior to the merger the 7ER was Delta's WB work horse. A side from a handful of 777s and 767-400s, they were all Delta had. Look at how much flying has shifted to the A330. The 7ER has suffered a loss of flying to the A330, B767-400, & lie flat seat mods. Add in 757 retirements, & the 7ER is simply overstaffed.



Not sure how. We were being monitored before. The company has already had their hand smacked once. The union is compiling data(just as they were a few years ago) & they'll use it in a grievance hearing if necessary. Bottom line, we now get 100 hours of no questions asked sick time. We did NOT get that before. If someone from the CPO calls you, don't answer. Write down what they want, & call your Rep. You're never required to answer your phone when the company calls.

That is a false statement. They are calling people on their first sick call to ask questions and intimidate into not calling sick again. I would not call that "no questions asked sick time."

The company is using the loophole created by the "good faith basis" language in the contract to require verification from whomever it deems worthy of harassment. THAT's the bottom line. Call your rep all you want, we codified this behavior and now it's the law. Although I suspect this completely violates the HIPAA Act of 1996.

From a company email yesterday:

"Q5.5: My CPO calls me regarding a good faith basis to inquire into the medical reason for my use of sick leave. Do I need to provide verification?

A5.5: It depends. Based on the discussion, your CPO may either (1) consider the current sick leave occurrence to be verified, or (2) require you to provide verification."

So, "BASED ON THE DISCUSSION"- I may be required to provide verification...

I guess that pretty much leaves it up to the CPO to decide, doesn't it? If I don't answer the phone, I'm not going to be getting paid sick leave, am I? What will my reps do to have my sick leave paid if I don't have this "discussion"? I suspect the answer is "nothing" because we specifically authorized this new sick leave harassment policy. We authorized it and the company created a NEW DEPARTMENT to administer it. Enjoy!

That one sentence about good faith basis completely nullified the 100 hours of unverified. This to me means we have to accept that constructive engagement is not working.

The only slight modification from a pure category ratio was the small number of pull and plug. And the number of pulled & plugged pilots equaled the number of fNWA pilots that retired early within months of the SLI. Double that number now 3+ years later. My buddy was out sick for 3 consecutive trips. Not one call. Maybe....just maybe the guys that are receiving calls have shown a pattern?
