Red Five,

The current status is delayed. Have not heard a schedule for resolution of the 717's Certification issues.

Is there a source or something earlier in this thread that I missed that gives any details on the delay? Also noticed there's no trips in the October bid package for the ATL 717 at all, even though it looked like everything was on track for September... is this appearing to not be a short term issue?

Haven't been up on the boards much lately but this is the first I've heard of it. Sorry if I am rehashing old topics. Sure would be nice to get the holidays off tho :D

Put Douglas back into business?

Douglas management took over Boeing with Boeing's own money. Now they are busy trying to put Boeing out of business.

Obtaining FAA Certification on Douglas products involved three martini lunches and specs delivered on Friday afternoon after 2PM. That was kind of an LA thing and I doubt Delta still has that skill set, if they ever had that skill set.

Further, FAA management is under some pressure to make sequestration felt. AC Certification was specifically targeted early on. During a crew room brief 6 moths ago someone asked about sequestration's effect on ATC and was told the effect would be more obvious in bringing new airplanes to the Delta property.

Pilot said to buy a stock.

That means get in a short position, right?

Sequestration. I'll know sequestration is really a problem when the military takes the colonels' staff cars away.

Red Five,

This should answer your question.

Delta MEC Alert 13-11

The Company notified ALPA last week that the service entry date for the B717 has been delayed pending resolution of cabin seating issues. They will not enter service in September as planned. Furthermore, it is unknown at this time if the B717 will enter service in October, but the Company has advised ALPA that this could occur.

The Delta MEC granted no contractual relief to the Company regarding 76-seat flying. Per the PWA, the authorized number of 76-seat aircraft at DCI will remain unchanged, at a maximum of 153, until the B717s enter the fleet as outlined in Section 1.

Dog Wisperer,

My kids colored your drawing. Then my wife got a hold of it and modified it with the pilot's dream being a beer and computer terminal with Airline Pilot Central in big letters across the top of the screen....
