Wait till you retire. It is next to impossible to non rev on a S3B. It is painful to see a 2013 hire get on before me. Not whining, I know the rules. It would be nice to get a few (4) trips a year using an S2 or 3 for vacation trips. Something to think about in the next contract. This would be a no cost item to the company. Just saying!

And just think, with the thousands about to retire, how impossible it would be to get to and from work.

No.
In my view treating pilots equally with every other employee on the property isn't a negotiation, it is ministerial.
If the group wants to negotiate some sort of change, more power to them. I own my own aircraft and don't have a dog in this fight as much as some. Delta pays me well enough that I BUY a ticket on DELTA (support the home team) when I need to get somewhere commercial. (have not even renewed my $50 fee in a year ...)
NOT MINE ... but, an example of the best non-rev alternative:

I thought commuting was a choice. I kid. I commuted my whole 30 year career. I can and have bought tickets to the BVI , Bermuda and LAS since I retired. My first point was that our so called "benefits" are not as great as we tend to think. Back to mowing the yard!
Yeah Max, the chance of S2's for retired guys? Poor to really, really poor.

IMHO. If we don't put in our WB order soon, we will be so far back in the queue it may be 2-3 years before delivery unless we are buying used.

I haven't spoken with the guy since my last airline so I don't know if he changed his situation.
