Yeah, there's an awful lot of *'s on that list of cities. Good thing our customers prefer flying mainline...you know, 70 seats and above.

Break break---from three weeks ago:

ALPA: We think you guys need to hire. The peasants...er, pilots are getting a little reckless and threatening to break up our consortium.

MGT: Argh, another waste of money. How many would pacify them?

ALPA: Could you go 500?

MGT: We'll hire 50.

ALPA: How about 400?

MGT: Tell you what. We'll bring back the bypasses, add 100 new pilots, and make it sound like 300 in a well-crafted email. In return, you start prepping them to give us relief on the Atlantic JV. Or, we could increase mainline flying to comply.

ALPA & MGT: Ah, ha ha ha, ah, ha ha ha, good one! (Much knee slapping occurs)

ALPA: No, that sounds good. We will get an email out in the next two weeks. You guys still plan to be out of compliance in the Pacific, too, right?

MGT: Yes, and remember, you already agreed to sell that to the masses.

ALPA: We know, we know, working it already.

MGT: Come up with one of those graphs with a large y-axis scale so everything looks flat and fair. Those usually fool them.

ALPA: Funny you should mention it. That's our plan for the JV prep email.

MGT: Excellent...more cognac?

ALPA: Why yes sir, don't mind if I do.

Nose first

Just read on NBCNews.com that SWA that landed in LGA landed nose first. NTSB said it was releasing factual information. I hope they use caution and wait before anymore is released. These things have a tendency in cyber land to shoot first. Was it a gust? Control issue? Forcing it down to to float? Will be interesting to see what happened but hope the NTSB uses caution.

Fig. Some of our old coworkers sent me a vid. Check your PM's. Definitely not a normal landing!!! Should be interesting to see the flight data recorder re-creation when it's released.

Go on down the page here to the Safety thread. A few pages back, there's a report from an eye witness pilot taxiing out who said they ballooned and then came down nose wheel first. Ouch!

As a 73 guy, they f'd up. Pushed over because they got slow and hit the NG first. I hate LGA but its not unbearable or undoable. We go into lots of other fields that get my attention a lot more than LGA. SNA, Key West, etc. Put the Mo Fo down and, no, not nose gear first.!

"Poles" show that NYC mayoral candidate Anthony Wienir has peaked too early and no longer has the "stiff, firm resolve" to remain a viable entrant in the race. His campaign is "petering" out.

Kids don't let kids sext their junk....you either Brett Favre.

Alright, to tell you the truth, not much really went on. I was very disappointed with the turnout. My guess is there were only about 5 (possibly a couple more) there who were not affiliated with the Union somehow. All the SEA Reps were there along with a guy from the MEC codeshare committee.

I printed out a copy of the latest MEC Update about the TAJV and discussed it with the Reps and the committee member. I was asked by the FO Rep if I thought any of it was "spin" and I said yes, I thought there were 2 places and I showed him where. I contended that where it said "the Delta pilots have maintained their "fair share" of the work" was one of them. Sounds like the codeshare committee is defining "fair share" from the past, as in before Alitalia vs after Alitalia joined on the AF/KLM side. (I didn't see any numbers but supposedly we are up to the amount of JV flying we were doing before Alitalia.) My contention was no, we are not maintaining our fair share. Our fair share is contractually defined. I also thought that sentence about growth beyond our fair share which didn't occur was over the top.

Talked about a few other things like the 316 NRT departures. No discussions/negotiations have taken place yet.

I got the distinct impression from all the reps that they were not getting very much input from the line pilot and would like a lot more.

I would highly recommend going if there is ever one in your area. Hey, what pilot doesn't like free beer, free food and free parking!!:):) (Yeah, Yeah, I know it's all paid with dues money but, hey, no out of pocket expenses!)

Denny

Thanks for the info.

If the reps want input, I suggest they start by reviewing the survey from last year.
