BKK is a great place to visit, wouldn't wanna live there. 52 hours is probably 20 too many.

But, I'm all for guys retiring....

The problem was that Airbus wanted a boatload of money to flip the RNP switch to On. (Same shakedown Boeing gives us on buying post delivery takeoff data.)

Well, that's a lot of words to say: Connecting the dots makes CAAC think that we have completed a big Airbus order and they flipped the RNP switch for "free".

This is the dot connecting I was referring to this morning. I now believe the 330/321 rumor not to be a rumor any longer.

We had been practicing RNP but didn't have approval because of the $$ airbus wanted.

We wanted the aft galleys removed but didn't because of the $$ airbus wanted to certify them.

No IFE in the airbus because of a number of factors.

Now all of a sudden those things are happening at the same time as the 330/321 rumor.

No coincidence in my humble O.

If your goal is to get to LAX then bid the 73N because once the movement starts you will be able to lateral bid into LAX.

If your goal is SEA it may require a future bid to the ER if you can not hold it system wide when you come back.

Either way your timing is pretty good - hopefully 12 years of stagnation with the last 5 being retrograde may actually be coming to an end.

That's the third time you've done that, not really sure why. Maybe it's because you're senior and don't care? Or you'll believe it when you see it.

For guys in my seniority range that have been displacing the last 3 AEs, this is good and interesting news.

Word from SD last week was that it was up to Airbus whether or not they get the order. It's theirs unless they do try something dumb.

Find out what RA told the group of employees he was addressing in Narita...

So, it would seem ... exactly zero craps given.
I'm not sure what your deal is today.

When DAL went with Boeing instead of Airbus on the 739/321 order, Airbus said "fine- since you went with Boeing, it'll cost you $20,000 (or something high like that) to RNP certify each individual aircraft." Had we ordered airbus, certification would have been free, and the high cost is the reason for the delay in certification.

The fact that RNP is now happening is very telling of the company's intentions: an Airbus order. I welcome new airplanes... particularly new ones that don't take the skin off of my head, don't have screaming cockpit volume at any reasonable speed, and have room to put both pilot's bags plus 2 jumpseaters' bags.
