you know what makes me mad? the thought that pilots who get one of those red A Job Well Done cards from a frequent flier would turn those in for personal gain?!? No. You take those home and you keep them to remind you of who matters most and not go sniveling to the CPOs for some personal gain.
I mean if I did that Id have to turn in 10-12 of those per trip. And that's just for a 2 day trip. But I dont. Fly right people, fly right.

Good leadership will identify and motivate guys who are a good fit. And yes, there is still a place for leadership on the company's part.
I've flown with several LCAs who swore they would never do it. But when approached and mentored, they eventually accepted the position. To me, those guys generally have a better perspective than the folks begging for the job.

I agree. I flown with several guys who aren't check airmen (like Jughead)* and have no desire to do it, yet I think they would make great LCAs. And then sometimes I fly with one and wonder how in the hell he became one.

Perhaps "dragged" was a poor choice of words on my part. I should have said "persuaded."

Filler
In my experience at DAL, 99% of the LCAs I've had experience with are absolutely right for the job. I was the Air Force version for heavy jets and I intimately understand the obligation and undertaking. The rub is the 1% or so who shouldn't be offered that responsibility. We have those guys at DAL and they don't have the personality or approach to competently do the job. That's a management problem.

Aghhh, just finished a 4 day trip from #ell! Reduced rest on day three, and a 5 legger on day four, thunderstorms, three swaps with some maint thrown in.....and its all legal...and ALPA sanctions this in our PWA ! Almost hit 14 hours of duty time......Imagine sitting behind a desk for 14 hours then having to drive on the interstate during heavy traffic low vis and and thunderstorms, ...how safe is that.
And some how I feel our day was even worse than that!
Side Question:
I'm trying to move some reserve days around in PCS and the status of my request is "capped reserve days", what does that mean?
