The same story was featured prominently on CNN this morning.

I'm not sure complaining this loudly was a very smart move by management.
In fact, it seems like a pretty big mistake since we are an industry and company so tightly controlled by the government.

I hope Delta doesn't need any favorable rulings from the Obama administration for a while.

Like this administration has been favorable to the industry as a whole???

How else will they draw attention to the problem? I'm glad they did this. We need more businesses to follow suit. Stop whining about how this administration sucks and do something about it. Go RA!

Agree. While it won't impress Barry, it will hopefully embolden other large companies to speak up. And book on Delta.

The Obama Administration is pushing us towards single payer socialized medicine. When it happens, most employers will say "good" and hand the mess off to taxpayers and their government to work out.

All due respect, this section of the contract is a lemon. You really shouldn't try to defend it. However, it will have the desired impact for the company...less sick calls. If this wasn't the intent negotiated then fight now. Grieve it yesterday and same goes for scope when we are out of compliance. I don't want just money. I want compliance and a penalty for time out of compliance. The contract is only as good as ALPA's willingness and ability to enforce it. We have paid excellent money for substandard language.

I really don't get all the hubris over the new sick leave policy. If I'm not mistaken we now get more fully paid days then before which I see as an improvement. Who cares if the company wants to check up on you, if you're sick you're sick. As an aside whether we want to believe it or not sick leave is abused by a few and the rest of us pay for it. That hasn't changed in the 35 years I've been at the big D, from the first contract to the last DL has always tried to control the cost of sick leave abuse. OBTW, the number one sick day of the year ? Super Bowl Sunday. Coincidence ?, I think not

And then they'll push for a single payer airline.

As far as the notion of a single payer system I don't think that's true... Oh wait... Harry Reid says Obamacare will lead to single-payer system

Okay so who is ready to give up pay and scope to keep healthcare?

Its made by the same company who gave us the Dash 8 and RJs... Therefore it needs to be at the regionals. Sure it's big but I'm not going to bid it and don't want to be stuck flying it so how about we see how much money we can get for it?

/pilot who doesn't get it but fills out the contract survey just like you..
